Old Style Signal Poles Here's a older style of signal pole with the double guy style arms that's getting hard to find here. There's also a [url=http://www.raqsa.mto.gov.on.ca/techpubs/opsa.nsf/2779a97e07154fa48525706100661bf5/247832d3eca8eeee8525706f006326b6/$FILE/2501-01.pdf]variant[/url] of these with a more angular mast but they're even harder to find than the curved ones. I'm not sure who made these particular arms but the design was also made by Powerlite along with other companies. Old Style Signal Poles

Here's a older style of signal pole with the double guy style arms that's getting hard to find here. The MTO calls these "overbrace arms" but I think of them as double guy arms instead. There's also a variant of these with a more angular mast but they're even harder to find than the curved ones. I'm not sure who made these particular arms but the design was also made by Powerlite along with other companies.

The single member arms replaced the old double guy design and is still in use.

Cool, I haven't been to NYC but I've seen similar guyed traffic lights in a game that's modelled after NYC.

Well Canadian and American street lighting and traffic signalling set ups are very similar and quite often made by the same manufactures.

Some interesting differences I noticed between Canadian and American signalling setups is that diagonal span wires are very rare in Canada and I haven't seen a fixed 4 way used in Canada...might have used them in the past though. and someone correct if I'm wrong but I believe the yellow backplates are only used in Canada. Razz

And these double guy arms were made by Powerlite!

MTO calls them overbrace signal arms for some reason.

We use diagonal span wires here all the time. The closest signal to me is like that.

Diagonal spans are very rare here, we only use them for flasher beacons. We use box spans if the signals are wire hung but the most common mounts are mast arms.
