Fortran LED Pedestrian Signal With Timer
Here's a pic of a LED pedestrian signal with a timer on the bottom of the signal that shows how much time is remaining when the hand starts flashing. This one is a new signal but I've seen some where they retrofitted the old incandescent heads to include the walk signal on top and the timer display on the bottom. Thanks for Niall for telling me that this is made by Fortran.

never seen this type of configuration before...the only Countdown Ped's iv'e seen were 16" Square types....VERY cool!

Thanks, interestingly we don't have the large 16" square peds here in Ontario. The non countdown ones here are just a single 9" LED ped here.

Actually these are 12 inch signals not 9 inch Wink

i think he means the one's in his area are Single 9" LED's.

Joseph and I live in the same area Wink and to my knowlege there are no 9 inch signals, the closest to 9 are 8 inch ones Confused

they are trying to phase out 9"s down here, mainly due to higher visibility of the 16"s

Yeah I meant that they were the 12" type that Niall was mentioning about, over here many of the older incandescent versions of this signal are getting phased out in favour of LED signals.

9 inch pedestrian signals are still made, but they very limited in places they can legally be installed. For example, the crosswalk must be less than 60 feet in length in order to warrant 9 inch lenses. Most municipalities dont stock various sizes, and use straight 12 and/or 16 inch signals

I don't think we allow them here (in Ontario,Canada), this is the only type used here (we never use the square clam shell type here)
