Route One
Here you see a signal in Pawtucket RI. This is the road with all the AE 25 FCO. Maybe there's one in this shot. There are some far down the road....

Never seen an overhead speed limit sign outside of a freeway before. Shocked

Me neither. This is the only road I've seen this. We actually don't use overhead speed limit signs on the freeways either. They're on regular U-cannel poles on the sides of the freeway.

Most of our speed limit signs on the freeway are on regular 4X4 wood poles but the termini and major ramps sometimes use overhead speed limit signs.

our older poles are 4X4" wood poles, but they like to use the galvanized U-channel now. The city uses green U-channel poles though. Those look nice, but rust so fast. The glavanized ones are better IMO.

We usually use 4X4 and 6X6 wood, galvanized U-channel, and square galvanized tubing for signs.

Some older median island signs are mounted on mini signal flasher poles...a relic from when signs were illuminated.
