The Igniter Wiring
For the igniter, the blue wire must be moved to the empty spade for 90W operation (it's wired for 70W in the pic since I'm using a 70W lamp in it which appears about the color and brightness it should, though i can't test the lamp on a proper ballast to see for sure) that blue wire goes to the lamp.

Makes me wonder if its an energy saver ballast for HPS since none of us have seen a 90W lamp Shocked
Pretty cool find!

Same here, if you get a 100w lamp you should try lighting it on the 90w setting.

Joe M told me that GEmade a 70/90W HPS lamp in medium base but he never knew what it was for. Yet this says to only use S54 lamps.

So what I'm thinking is that the 90W setting is supposed to save energy but provide about the same amount of light as a 100W powered lamp. and the 70W setting would use 70W but it would be brighter than a 70W HPS lamp because the 100W lamps gets more LPW. thus greater efficiency. I don't know. I hope it uses normal 100W lamps though since they're still availabe on a massive scale.

It must have been later in the 80s since my 1980 GE lamp catalogue I downloaded dosen't have a 70/90w HPS listed. They did make 325w MH and 400w MH lamps that were designed to run on mercury ballasts though.

I guess even if 100w lamps don't work on it, at least it's good that 70w lamps will since they are one of the most common low watt HPS used.

yeah he said his utiltiy got them by mistake and he grabbed one or two. I think the 70W HPS lamp is driven properly but i can't compare it with a proper ballast. I'm hoping someone knows the "secret" behind this fixture since I don't want to be killing lamps be running the wrong lamp wattage in this.
