An Odd find...
Someone thought it'd be a great idea to tack some PAR floods onto this 8ft slimline. they're CFLs and 60w altos too.

All energy savers! Laughing
streetlight98   [Apr 29, 2013 at 01:30 AM]
yep, and all don't work!
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Apr 29, 2013 at 01:37 AM]
What they're burned out?
Time for some 75w daylight Alto slimlines (I actually like the green ends) and some 6500K spiral CFLs IMO...
streetlight98   [Apr 29, 2013 at 01:42 AM]
the switch was off during the pic but i found it and flicked it on and the tubes just glowed faintly and striated a little and one PAR was flashing like nuts like something shorted and the other did nothing.

i agree with the 75W daylight lamps but make the PARs halogen or incandescent. Razz No CFLS!!!! Mad Laughing
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Apr 29, 2013 at 01:45 AM]
Alright, 150w PARs...But 75w daylight greenenders.
joe_347V   [Apr 29, 2013 at 02:59 AM]
Nah stick a couple of SBMH PARs in. Razz
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Apr 29, 2013 at 03:17 PM]
How 'bout 160w SBMVs?
streetlight98   [Apr 29, 2013 at 03:30 PM]
Ooo self ballasted HID? now we're talkin. Cool

They sell 75 WATT! Cool White Supreme Alto slimlines at Home Depot, could thus almost bring an old slimline lume like this back to it's pre-EPACT glory! Laughing

they are nice lamps...i like high CRI cool white almost as much as the 3,500°K
streetlight98   [Jun 18, 2013 at 02:16 AM]
yeah i think Filips is steering away from the energy saving alto lamps since they're just so terrible lol. the full wattage altos aren't really that bad but i hate the green endcaps. i like the color green but they stick out too much in a fluorescent fixture. IMO they should start making black end caps again. i think even white endcaps would look nice. i heard some westie lamps had ORANGE end caps? Shocked
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Jun 18, 2013 at 02:28 AM]
Yep, Westy (and later, Philips) VHO lamps had orange ends (I THINK)
joe_347V   [Jun 18, 2013 at 02:51 AM]
Well, Durotest VHO lamps had gold Shocked end caps. I have one like that.
A_lights   [Jun 18, 2013 at 02:55 AM]
i want to see a purple endcap just for the heck of it Razz Laughing
joe_347V   [Jun 18, 2013 at 03:11 AM]
Someone should make a /BLB with a purple or black endcap. Razz

On the other hand why not make the endcaps match the colour of the light. So there will be /CW, /D, /WW, and /GLD end caps now. Laughing
A_lights   [Jun 18, 2013 at 03:31 AM]
i think thats a good idea, or have the lamp's caps the same color as the lamp when its off
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Jun 18, 2013 at 03:28 PM]
Chrislights has a F40 Westy blackender BLB...
joe_347V   [Jun 19, 2013 at 11:44 PM]
All T8/12 Westy /BLBs have black endcaps...
