Westinghouse OV-14B on my display
It wasn't exactly an easy lightweight fixture to install! It was really HEAVY!!!!!! Had to remove refractor door assembly to install it...even without refractor door it was still kinda heavy!

Shocked I hope the light is okay!
streetlight98   [Sep 19, 2011 at 10:17 PM]
I'm sure it is. those older lights are like freakin tanks. you just can't destroy them! Smile Of course that's a very good thing.
gailgrove   [Sep 19, 2011 at 10:20 PM]
Yeah, but the refractors aren't! That's what I'd be concerned about, and Jace of course. Razz

I saw a Westinghouse OV-15 that was hit by a vehicle earlier this year, and the only thing that was broken was the refractor and the fixture was transferred to a new pole.

Shocked I hope the fixture (and Jace of course Razz) is okay, most knockdowns here get scrapped...I think they scrap all lights with missing parts, basically if it needs more than a lamp or PC they'll scrap it.
gailgrove   [Sep 19, 2011 at 11:18 PM]
Same here, they will replace the refractor if they have some of the right type on the truck but otherwise it's scraping time for the light. They replace working lights sometimes too for some unknown reason. Mad

"Package replacements" are the worst...do what Toronto does: when you replace the pole SAVE the old fixture if it still works. Rolling Eyes
streetlight98   [Sep 19, 2011 at 11:34 PM]
Here they will reinstall the light with no refractor until they get a refractor, then they'll come back and put one in when they get one.
mercuryvaporrocks   [Sep 20, 2011 at 12:45 AM]
My power company won't install a replacement refractor unless they have to relamp a street light.
streetlight98   [Sep 20, 2011 at 01:13 AM]
If a new door or lens is needed, National grid will replace the lamp and PC too so the won't have to come back to that light for a while
gailgrove   [Sep 20, 2011 at 01:16 AM]
Here they don't replace PCs for some reason, unless it is dayburning, not even during group relampings. I think the change the lamp anytime the go up to a fixture, it just makes sense to do that.
streetlight98   [Sep 20, 2011 at 01:21 AM]
Since almost all repairs are made at night, unless the lamp is on it's way out, it stays, but for PCs, they can't accuratly tell if it's good or bad, so they just replace it anyways. I don't think they replace ignitors here though.
joe_347V   [Sep 20, 2011 at 01:27 AM]
I've seen the crews here work during the day, I guess they cover up the PC or override it to test the fixtures.
streetlight98   [Sep 20, 2011 at 01:28 AM]
Yeah, NG isn't that good with fixing PCs. They aren't terrible thoguh. They use high quality PCs
GullWhiz   [Sep 20, 2011 at 02:05 AM]
The fixture and the glass did survive....perfectly intact Very Happy

GullWhiz   [Oct 08, 2011 at 03:54 PM]
Thanks, but had to remove it because this whole setup FELL down lucky it didn't break the glass! Shocked
Mercuryvapor123   [Oct 08, 2011 at 04:09 PM]
Shocked Glad to hear that!!!
