Pretty simple. Razz It's just a ballast box with an incandescent fixture verus a pulse rated socket. Are pulse rated sockets required for probe start MH and MV lamps becuase they don't use ignitors?

Not really but theyre usually pulse rated

Yeah, all the sockets that came with my MV lights were pulse rated even though a regular ceramic socket would be fine.

It's a black plastic socket just lime those early to mid 80s GE low wattage sockets Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

i suppose it's going to be ok base down to horizontal in an open fixture
