1992 is also the year Thomas & Betts acquired American Electric, I believe.
streetlight98   [Feb 23, 2012 at 01:44 AM]
I think so. Then in I believe 2003, Acuity Brands acquired American Electric and renamed it American Electric Lighting.

Another light eh?

This guy is just yelling for help. xD

This fixture is in such bad shape, all it needs is a good clean out, and a new paint job. Then it should be as good as new! And the doors aren't as deep as the M-400 R3, it's the same deep as the 125.

When did the 125 come out?
joe_347V   [Feb 23, 2012 at 05:32 AM]
I think 1989 but could someone verify that for me? Oh and what's the date code on the lamp? Razz
Antstar85   [Feb 23, 2012 at 10:25 AM]
1989 is correct.
LilCinnamon   [Feb 23, 2012 at 12:22 PM]
I never knew the 125 was that old. The 115 came out in 2003? I would guess? Even though the 115 is the same as a 113 but just with a different door and slipfitter... And Heat sync.

I noticed the 125 and 115 are the only fixtures with a 2 bolt and a 4 bolt slipfitter as an option. The GE's only have 2 bolt as an option, (M-400 R2s and A2's have only 4 bolt as an option) and Coopers only have two bolt as an option, but AEL's have both 2 bolt and 4 bolt as an option.
joe_347V   [Feb 23, 2012 at 02:00 PM]
So how old is the lamp inside and what brand is it?
LilCinnamon   [Feb 23, 2012 at 02:34 PM]
It's a GE lamp and I dunno. Xcel energy liked using GE for a while. I think that is what they relamp fixtures with now adays, is GE lamps. Before was the ALTO's though. Most of the fixtures I have found in Xcel territory had GE lamps in them.
streetlight98   [Feb 23, 2012 at 03:22 PM]
@ Ian, The current GE M-400 and M-400A have 2 bolt as a standard, but 4-bolt is an option.
LilCinnamon   [Feb 26, 2012 at 01:53 AM]
This fixture is very dirty, I dunno where the dirt in the reflector is coming from. I Need to give this thing a nice coat of paint. The paint is wearing off tremendously, looks like AE's Peel while the GE's do a different story. I really wonder where this was used.
streetlight98   [Feb 26, 2012 at 02:08 AM]
The coopers here break off in chips too. I'm thinking AEL and Cooper either cut corners on the paint job or they just use a cheaper grade of aluminum.
gramirez2012   [Feb 26, 2012 at 02:59 AM]
Yeah I've seen a LOT of AE's with the paint chipping problem. Must be a manufacturing defect.

What does the text on the ballast door say, "Warning Tighten Screw To Secure Door, Don't Rely On Latch To Hold Door"?
gailgrove   [Feb 26, 2012 at 01:03 PM]
It doesn't look in bad shape to me, just needs a new coat of paint...
streetlight98   [Feb 26, 2012 at 04:08 PM]
@ Joe, that's what it looks like. The latch appears to be broken anyways so you can't rely on that. Laughing
LilCinnamon   [Mar 12, 2012 at 01:21 AM]
I put a new paint job on it and it looks as good as new. Except... For the fact the paint job was crappy. xD

But This fixture is greatly restored to good glory!
streetlight98   [Mar 12, 2012 at 01:29 AM]
Good as new except the paint job was crappy eh? Most of the lights I repaint come out crappy too. So far, the one that's come out the best is my 1973 F40T12 strip light. I painted the reflector back a couple of months ago on a warm(ish) day. The paint took almost a week to dry and it's not perfect, as you can see the sanding marks underneath the paint, but I sanded it pretty uniform, so it's no big deal. i used gloss white enamel paint.
LilCinnamon   [Mar 12, 2012 at 01:56 AM]
Actually the paint was just fine. Just a little ehh but it's hardly noticeable.

I like the new paint job, looks nice on the light. The fixture is way cleaner too, no more dirt inside. But right now the paint is kind of sticky.. things are liking to stick on it.

Picture please? Cool
