National Grid uses tapered E arms on their metal poles. RIDOT loves davits thoguh.

HG&E also uses tapered E Arms but only for double light poles. All new single light installations are Davits. WMECO and NGRID here use both Tapered E and Truss arms.

Most of our poles are tapered E arms, the only davits nearby are on Toronto's expressways.

Ahh. I forgot to mention trusses, although they're not as common as the tapered Es. The trusses are 8 foot and the tapered Es appear to be around 5 feet long, which is odd since most arms are in even legnths. here's an example of a tapered E installation here's a more recent installation or a slightly different pole design, but same legnth arm- 5ft. This installation was done in 2007-2008 The black pole is newer and a better example of what NGrid installs, but the unpainted poles are more common here and in downtown areas. this is what they use on wood poles Those are brushed aluminum finished and 6 feet long. I think they're GE?

The brushed aluminum ones are made by HAPCO. Both WMECO and NGRID use the same poles, well at least here they do.

Do the poles and arms in your area look similar to the ones i linked?

Most of our freeways used to use 6ft truss arms but they're getting less common since the MTO has been switching to highmast over the last ~25 years.

Yes mike they are the same used around here. The Davits HG&E are also made by HAPCO.

The davits here vary. I see some liek this and some with a more gradual curve.
