It needs a 175w MH tag. Razz Nice thoguh

Hmm.. I think this ballast has a bit lower than normal starting voltage, cause it take a bit for the lamp to turn on, probably like 5-10 seconds for it to first ignite. The MV lamps are fine and ignite instantly, but take longer to get to full brightness.

I don't think it matters much that it takes a bit to first ignite, right?

No it's the lamp. New probe start lamps will take a few seconds to start up. My walpack does this to my new metalarc, but the used one and the MV lamp both will instantly start warming up. It happens to the mall near me. When the timer filps the load on, to lights actually come on at different times. Some take up to a minute to start lighting. Shocked

Yeah my 175w MH flood does the same thing too. It takes a few seconds for the lamp to strike.

One thing is that this lamp isn't NEW, I bought the 175w MH lamp like a year ago. xDD I lit it on my 175w MV ballast a couple times, but now that I have a 175w MH ballast it's perfect.

It still doen't have that many hours on it yet. Once it gets a couple hundered hours it should light instantly

I like the 175w ballast in here now. It fit's perfectly, and lights up nice.

What do you think of the color of the light? Is the 175w MH ballast a good permanent addition to this fixture?
streetlight98   [Oct 08, 2011 at 01:57 PM]
This ballast is a GREAT addition to this light. MV and MH make any light look better. Very Happy Razz

Even a D******R? Razz Laughing

Durastars are awesome! They look unique. I would love one of those fixtures in my collection!
streetlight98   [Oct 08, 2011 at 08:12 PM]
I don't like the dursastar, btu yes a MH or mercury one would look better than a HPS one. Razz No external ignitor.
LilCinnamon   [Oct 08, 2011 at 09:17 PM]
Unless it's a pulse start MH Durastar, then it WOULD have the external ignitor. xD

But... The NEMA tag ripped off already! I guess cutting lamination hates to stay on. xD

Well Ian I said "MH" not "PSMH" Wink I use packaging tape to laminate my decals and it works just fine. plus the tape is UV protecting, so the tags won't fade. Very Happy Doublesided tape works well too.

Packaging tape actually SUCKS in outside conditions! I thought it was the best outside as well, but the packaging tape I used on this aerovane was crumbling apart after a year exposed to weather conditions!
