M-400 R2 insides.
Here is the insides of the M-400 R2. Before it was cleaned. There was a small wasp nest in it when I first opened it on the side of the road, but I kicked that off before messing with it.

There were no wasps in it though. I just knocked it on the ground, nothing happened. I think they abandoned the nest after the workers took down the pole. xD

Oh and the light works, I have it lit up right now. xD The first time I plugged it in was on a GFCI outlet to make sure to be safe.

It could be from years ago, all the nests I have found where this type and you could clearly see there where no wasps on it (or where on it in one case Shocked ).
LilCinnamon   [Oct 05, 2011 at 12:35 AM]
Yeah that was the kind of nest found on this fixture, it was completely empty. Looks like something wanted to make a nest in here too. But I cleaned it all out now. Still waiting for the gasket to dry though.

It's possible there was a birds nest in there before but the lineman that serviced it tried to clean it out as best as they could.

Is this multivolt, 120, or 120X240?
LilCinnamon   [Oct 05, 2011 at 12:52 AM]
Multi-Tap, 120, 240, 208, and 277 voltage inputs. Like my M-400 R2 400w HPS ballast, My spare M-400 R2 400w HPS ballast, and my M-400 R3 ballast, and the AE 125 spare ballast as well. But comparing THIS Ballast to my other two M-400 R2 ballasts, this one is MUCH thinner.
streetlight98   [Oct 05, 2011 at 12:52 AM]
THe other two are also almost twice the wattage too.
LilCinnamon   [Oct 05, 2011 at 12:58 AM]
I know. I wonder what the difference between the AE 400w and 250w ballasts are. Also for the 115 they have to make the ballast MUCH smaller or wider cause my AE 400w HPS ballast will NOT fir in a 115.
streetlight98   [Oct 05, 2011 at 01:24 AM]
They probably use a smaller ballast like a HX ballast. Thoose type are rare in wattages over 175, but they're made.
LilCinnamon   [Oct 05, 2011 at 01:34 AM]
Niall, how big is your 115 250w HPS ballast?
gailgrove   [Oct 05, 2011 at 02:38 AM]
It's the same as the 250 watt ballasts in my 125s, it's just an average sized CWA modern 250 watt HPS ballast.
LilCinnamon   [Oct 05, 2011 at 02:42 AM]
Can you take a top view of the ballast? Like showing the coils. Cause on your pic of the insides of the 115 only shows the side.

I'll see, every time you request me to take a picture I'm away from home it seems. I'll try to get one Monday, but I might no be able to upload it until Tuesday.

You still need to get that pic of your B2227s tag for me Niall. Razz Laughing
gailgrove   [Oct 05, 2011 at 02:46 AM]
When/where did you request that? I completely forget about it if I ever saw it. Razz
joe_347V   [Oct 05, 2011 at 02:56 AM]
Laughing It was probably just me asking about the date on it. Razz

Although a inside pic of your R47 would be nice. Laughing
gailgrove   [Oct 05, 2011 at 02:58 AM]
I'm not sure if it has the date, or it might be to worn, I'll see. And I'll get a shot or that R47 too. Smile
LilCinnamon   [Oct 05, 2011 at 03:12 AM]
Where are you right now? And okay.
gailgrove   [Oct 05, 2011 at 03:16 AM]
My Grandmothers, she travels a lot and lives on the other side of the city to me. We have to watch her cats and house while she is away, which is okay since she has a nicer house than we do anyways. Razz

I remember my godparents had a (McGraw Edison???????judging by the fixture setup, those ones that have the bulb in at an angle) 175w NEMA "bucket light"that had a wasp nest in it. It had a BT shape/DX mercury vapor lamp with a large W on the etch, could have been Westinghouse or the True Value lightbulb brand Westpointe. This was a few years ago, it's probably still there, wasp nest and all. It rarely got lit up but I turned on the switch for a few minutes to watch it warm up. That was my first experience with a merc. I was about 10 or 11, and am 14 now.
