Crammed in there.
A 400 watt HPS balast crammed inside my M-250 R2.

It fits in there, took me a couple tries to fit the M-400 R2 ballast in this M-250 R2. xD

But I finally got it in there and it fits nicely.

They actually made M250R2s in 400w and the M250A2. I've only seen 400w A2s though.

I wonder how this compares to the other 400w small fixtures, the OVX and to a lesser extent the 115 don't work that well with 250w+ HPS lamps.

The drop lens version of this may have problems, but i've noticed the bumpier reflectors seem to have much less early cyling issues

Especially the drop lens OVX from what I noticed.

well, if the reflector is the same, then i doesn't make any difference.
cooper lights are bad though. The OVFs don't even make it a year sometimes. Confused

This one stopped working after a month! Shocked

(although it could be something defective)
streetlight98   [Aug 12, 2011 at 03:05 AM]
that's crazy. Shocked they must be using altos Rolling Eyes

Anyways, how is the ballast installed in this light? It was a tight fit.

If I take the reflector out you can see how the ballast is mounted easier.

Looks quite good, but stuffing a 400 watt ballast and lamp in to a M250R2 is just asking for trouble. Laughing

I re-did the ballast mounting with different brackets and the ballast fits much better with the other brackets.

And I know. xD But I don't plan to have this on all night. xD
