Should I restore this? Like put a new coat of paint or something. I still want a refractor for this to make this Drop lens.

Yah the gallery is open again, as for the restoration I guess it's your call since the paint still looks in pretty good condition.
Antstar85   [Sep 17, 2011 at 12:39 AM]
I'd leave the paint alone, the fixture looks good. Don't worry, I'm gonna find you that refractor!

the paint looks preety good. My M-400 is pretty scuffed up, but i want to keep the origional factory finish.

Should I paint this black? It would be cool to have a black cobrahead.
streetlight98   [Sep 30, 2011 at 01:02 PM]
It's your cobrahead, you can paint it any color you want to. I'd personally leave the factory coat of paint on it because the factory coat is in good shape.
gailgrove   [Sep 30, 2011 at 02:09 PM]
Yeah, I sure wouldn't paint it black if I where you.
streetlight98   [Sep 30, 2011 at 03:09 PM]
If the paint was all gone or if it was a bare fixture, I'd say go for it, but it's really up to you.
gailgrove   [Sep 30, 2011 at 03:11 PM]
No way would I paint a bare fixture, in my opinion they look better!
streetlight98   [Sep 30, 2011 at 03:14 PM]
Ehh, They don't look good to me. Bare fixtures look like they've been used. I like my lights to look brand new.
gailgrove   [Sep 30, 2011 at 03:16 PM]
How does a shiny silver light look used? A painted fixture is dull right from the factory.
streetlight98   [Sep 30, 2011 at 03:19 PM]
Bare fixtures aren't always shiney. They have to be polished if you want them shiney. And unfinished metal will corode faster. Painted looks better. It looks neater with paint. Bare fixtures just make me say "Eww". Just my opinion.
gailgrove   [Sep 30, 2011 at 03:22 PM]
Well I have the same feeling towards painted fixtures, many lose their paint after a few years anyways and my painted FCO 125 has lost most of it's paint and is more corroded than any unpainted fixture I have ever seen.

The paint job was suckish then. Some lights from the 70's here still have their paint. The older T&B lights had better paint. All of the 13, 113, 25, and 125 from the 70's and 80's here have their origional paint.

Well I am debating painting this because The top housing is a bit.. beat up-ish and there are marks all over the top. Some on the bottom as well as you see here. But I still am not sure.
