Older Fluorescents and Ballast Box
Here's a trio of fluorescent lamps and a ballast box that I got at Restore today. The ballast box appears to be unused and has a Magnetek rapid start ballast that runs one F25T8 and a F24T8 (never seen that before) and a space for another ballast. The three fluorescents is a Canadian GE F40/CW Mainlighter, a Canadian Westy F40/CW and a Westinghouse Canada F30T12/CW.

I haven't tested anything yet or checked the date code on the ballast but I'll update the page when I do.

Cool! I have a Mainlighter similar to yours AND a pair of Westinghouse F40Ds similar to the one in the middle.

Thanks Vince, could you maybe date them for me? or maybe you could tell me how to date them so I could date them myself Wink

I don't know for the Westinghouse tubes but the GE was made in Feb. 4, 1974. Cool

Thanks Vince, I tested the two F40s and got the date off the ballast too. The GE works fine and is still pretty bright but has a little endblackening. The Westy also works but one of the ends has quite heavy endblackening, and finally the ballast dates to October-November 1994 (K 94).

October Wink

Thanks Wink I still have to test the F30 and the ballast too. I also did some searching ad found that a FO25T8 is a 3' T8 lamp and a FBO24T8 is a 16.5" T8 lamp with a closer spacing between the tubes than a FB40T12.

The middle lamp is from 1982, the one on the right is from 1972.
