Never seen the ped signals activated without the traffic signals before, no overhead wiring to them either. Sadly, the mismatched looking ped signal sections are quite common on regional roads such as this for whatever reason.

Proof the regional roads must have different guidelines in our city: they never use the new square tube signal brackets, they never use LED streetlights... yet.

I havent seen mismatched ped signal installs for years. The last one im aware of was Queen St and West Dr. My guess is going to be a whole series of OVFs and maybe throw in some FCO 125s or something.

Yeah ive seen it in Toronto and vaughan before, but never here

York Region still has a ton of mismatched ped signals like this. They added the countdown timers a few years later than the LED hand/man section.

Toronto didn't really start the LED retrofit until the mid 2000s and by that time, countdown timers were starting to become popular so they just used the existing two section incandescent signals for the hand/man and the countdown. That's also why they still have a fair amount of CGE pedestrian signals left.

For a peel region new install I'm surprised to see this. The new traffic lights at all these intersections are Fortran too.

It looks very different in Toronto now with signals compared to even 2007! CGE signals are rapidly disappearing there because of the new signals with the polyflex backplates. Yeah I noticed new Vaughan/Markham intersections are using matching ped signals again now lol. The ped signals are going to be the last of the CGES down there. Oh yeah I found another one of those old Econolite ped signals in dtown T.O

There should be a good chance of some Econolite Poly signals showing up on this stretch. The same contractor used them at Steeles/Tomken and Bovaird/Dixie IIRC.

Maybe. It wouldnt be pedestrian signals as they are all up now to date. The median signals still could be econolite signals.
