Oh wow this is the EXACT same style i saw at the ReStore but the one there has an opal drop dish and four lamps with center mounted GE ballasts. I thought the ballast cover was missing but looking at yours, maybe it didn't have one... One of the ge ballasts leaked, runining a yellow lead in the other but that can be fixed. I'm going to get it this monday if it's still there... It it is still there I'll put the valmont and advance ballasts in it so the good GE doesn't get more hours on it. plus the other two are from the 90s so they're less likely to malfunction hence no need for fuses (since they've been IMPOSSIBLE for me to find). If anyone has a .6 lamp fuse and a .8 amp fuse please let my know, thaks.

The 4 lamp one i hAve has 2 ballast covers, one on each side the full fixture length...I've got pics on here or LG

Mine has the cover, it's just removed along with the door since this ballast was running hot when it was still at the school and tripping it's thermal protection...so far it seems fine though...but mine is designed just like Aaron's...Aaron are the ballast covers on yours a real pain to remove?

@ Mike, I think you'll have to go to a electronic component place to get 0.6A fuses. Mike have you given this place a try?

@Andy: yeah the one side is hard to remove and secure because some vandals beat the side of it(before i removed it &took it home) but its in fair condition otherwise

Mine is a pain in general I think, but that was when I was removing it and had never seen anything like it before...

@ Joe; i never knew about that place. Shocked i'll have to give it a try thanks! Cool

I've sincem stuck the ballast cover back on there as well as the door/diffuser...we'll see if the ballast likes it and if not I'll probably pull it off again and eventually replace the ballast. Maybe this particular one just likes lots of air circulation? Even in virtually free air (no ballast cover or diffuser) it would still trip sometimes.

Does it get really hot? Maybe the thermal protection is un usually sensitive?

Haven't run it much since putting the door back on but maybe you're right...I'd rather have the thermal protection nuisance-tripping rather than a tar/PCB incident though...and of course I won't use 34w tubes on this.
EDIT: I've also since converted it to 3-lamp, there is a photo in my gallery.
And the thermal protection still trips.
EDIT (Again). I've since suspended the other one of these above my computer area and given it a pair of these warm white Mainlighters.

Since converted to 3 lamp T8 and installed in my shop.
