M-400 R3 ballast "Tray"
All I needed to do to take the ballast out is remove three screws, and the ballast, ignitor, terminal board, AND the capacitor came out on this kind of "tray" Which I don't get why they built it this way.

But it is a very good design. Too bad M-400 R3's aren't made this way anymore. Now they are made with the ballast screwed directly to the housing, no bracket.

It doesn't matter if GE doesn't call this a Ballast Tray, that is what this is. A ballast tray is a tray with a ballast. Razz Rolling Eyes It's not that hard to understand. Razz Laughing
joe_347V   [Oct 02, 2011 at 07:27 PM]
Then why did you say "THIS isn't a ballast tray!" in your response to Niall? Rolling Eyes
streetlight98   [Oct 02, 2011 at 07:30 PM]
That's not what GE calls it. However that is what it is....
joe_347V   [Oct 02, 2011 at 07:32 PM]
You should have been more specific then...
and I noticed that you like to argue about pointless topics Laughing
streetlight98   [Oct 02, 2011 at 07:33 PM]

gailgrove   [Oct 02, 2011 at 07:42 PM]
I don't either, I'll replace Micheal's with Twistpaks, that would be better. Laughing
joe_347V   [Oct 02, 2011 at 07:43 PM]
Nahh you need some MTO truss arms, concrete poles and 1kW B2213s...ten of them would be good. Laughing
gailgrove   [Oct 02, 2011 at 07:48 PM]
That might look a bit like this! Shocked
joe_347V   [Oct 02, 2011 at 07:49 PM]
Or this! Shocked
gailgrove   [Oct 02, 2011 at 07:53 PM]
I've seen that too, it looks stupid and I can't picture lights up anything very well, the other one makes some sense since they do make the poles there at least.
streetlight98   [Oct 02, 2011 at 08:38 PM]
??? i'll go with something like this Razz
GullWhiz   [Oct 02, 2011 at 10:13 PM]
OV-12 had a very similar "Tray" mounted into the lower part of the body (the top body was actually a cover of the whole fixture) So ballast and caps could easily be removed too!
streetlight98   [Oct 02, 2011 at 10:17 PM]
Nice. i know you're extremely busy, but when you do get the time can you post some pics of the OV-12?
joe_347V   [Oct 02, 2011 at 10:48 PM]

streetlight98   [Oct 02, 2011 at 11:50 PM]
