Why did the old fixtures have a remote ballast, is it because the ballasts were too big for the fixture?
streetlight98   [Dec 02, 2011 at 09:23 PM]
Most had remote PCs.

i find it strange that they made Clamshells with integrated PC sockets seems unnessecary since you have to run wires to the PC back to the remote ballast then the ballast wires to the lamp.

I wonder if they ever made remote ballast cans with a PC socket on them.

Are these the ones on a series line?

@Joe, yes they did make remote ballasts with PC sockets. Rhode Island had some.

What i find odd is that people will have a light with an internal ballast and remote PC socket. Confused There are many remote ballast cans and remote PC sockets with PCs in them STILL up on the poles. Pole renewals are killing them off though. I've seen the PC sockets and ballast cans mounted near eachother on the pole, but i have yet to see a ballast can with a PC socket integrated into it. Shocked Very Happy
