The Ovalites found in Frederick
Found in Frederick, Maryland along with one GE Form 400...

It appears in this setup the first pole on the pic has series HPS ballast kit. Note the ignitor found on the brace support of the arm! The rest may be mercury ballast with HPS retrofit lamps. Those were one of those clamshells that got converted with HPS in 1995!

Those are still there as of today!

The shark fin on them looks pretty sleek.

It's been about 30 years since I've seen one of those-even back in the day they were a rare sight. They could be found on Milwaukee Ave. just south of Western Ave.

That thing's got style like a '57 Chevy...

Nice! Even series too, have you taken the time to find the series regulators?

@regennis, there are still a few major pockets of these old Ovalites here in Southern California.

Nice pictures. I wish I could see more like that here. But all clamshells are gone in Denver. xD Except one Form109 that is abandoned on a disconnected Utility pole... I want that.

We had incandescent NEMA versions of those here in Buffalo. In fact, they were the luminaires used on the Skyway when it was first built back in 1954.
