This is one BAFFLING tube! A full wattage, halophosphate lamp being made in November 1995! Unless I missed something, those tubes could NOT be made after October 1st, 1995, unless it was allowed until December 31st.
Why that this lamp will be illegal already after October 1st, 1995?
There is no reason for the halophosphors to be banned in favor of the deluxe white phosphors which are way dimmer and less efficient than the halophosphors, and for the full wattage lamps to be banned in favor of the reduced wattages lamp which are also dimmer and have less life.
The future ban of the halophosphors in Europe will be in favor of the triphosphors, and this isn't only because of better quality then the halophosphors, but particularly because they are brighter and so more efficient.
Come to think of it, I saw a bunch of GE F96T12/Ds in use at a large Fry's electronic store a couple of years ago. They are full wattage 75w halophosphate, yet they have the Hg symbol. That is only from October 2003 on. The etches say EX which means they were made for export to countries where they are still allowed, such as Mexico.
Dave: so Vince thinks that this lamp illegally made, because of the absence of the HG symbol relative to its manufacturing date?

@dor123, I meant I was sharing what I saw. This Sylvania lamp may either have an error on the date code, or it may have been made for export, or maybe the Canadian regulations were slightly different.
