My work
The back area of the shop I work at has R&D stuff which includes traffic signal equipment. On the bench is a Case Sign with "NO TURNS" on all four sides. LEDs are being developed to replace the flourescent lights in them. Which is funny because alot of the newer intersections with case signs dont have wire strung to the sign. They are always dark. Low Quality Picture taken with my phone.

There's a handful of single sided case signs here but the all the one's I've seen have been disconnected.

I live in southeast Michigan (northern Detroit metro area) and all our case signs are manufactured by National Sign and Signal in Battle Creek, MI. Case signs in our area are on 24/7/365. You cant see them on in the day because of the light washout. But recent plans don't even call for service lines to the sign, they are there because of their larger size, but a reflective sheeting is put on the front side rather than a light.

Some of the newer case signs are thinner too.

I'm located in the Toronto area and I also remembered that we also use case signs to light crosswalks here. They use LPS lamps and are lit 24/7 too.

IMO, they should connect a photocell to the sign lights so they don't waste energy and money. There are a few of those box lights in Providence. The faces are mostly faded off though and the lamps are dead.
