Home-Assembled 250W MH/MV Powr/Module for My M-250A2 FCO
Here's a shot of the wiring of my 250W MH/MV Powr/Module for my M-250A2. The ballast is a used 250W MH/MV Advance 120-277V CWA that I've had for awhile. The ballast bracket was custom made by Darren with the door itself provided by George. I repainted the door, added a NEMA tag, and created a new nameplate (top left of door; original is still installed at the bottom right). The door was originally from a 2003 175W MH/MV M-250A2 FCO. The hinges are different but other than that the doors are the same. And the hinges are interchangeable.

Thanks. Very Happy It has a nice hum but it's not an annoying hum. Nice soft muffled hum. Cool

Yep, like a glove. Cool Thanks a ton for designing the bracket for me. Very Happy It was just by chance that the capacitor fits perfectly where I have it. Doesn't need a bracket or anything. In order to remove the capacitor, the ballast bracket has to be loosened.

There's literally less 1/2 of an inch between the ballast and the top housing. I'd say this was a perfect project. Everything fits like it was factory designed. Smile I wish this has a retaining latch like the M-400A2 since this door is heavy to hold up while loosening the screw.

You're welcome. Smile The capacitor fits there very nicely, I figured the ballast and the top housing would be pretty close. Cool

I was going to put the wires on top, but it looks better with the wires under the ballast, plus it should help keep the wires from getting brittle. The supply wire entering the fixture might get crispy though. I tried to route the cable away from the ballast but the terminal block is right under the PC socket.

Looks great! You even used the plug block for the wiring. Was the block originally for a HPS Powr/Module? I see a slot where a ignitor would plug in.

No the block is the original to this door, which was for 175W MH/MV. GE uses the same block for all lamp types. The holes are simply left empty for other lamp types. PSMH GE Powr/Doors have a separate can ignitor I think, but still use this block. The ignitor is just not plug-in and is wired in after the block like the ballast and cap.
