My Cooper OVX with a 175 watt Metal Halide Ballast installed. This light for the longest time has had no ballast installed. I took the 250w ballast out of it and put it in the OVS a long time ago, when I still lived in the other house, and this light was empty. That high bay that I used to have hanging in my old house was just sitting in my current garage, and I took it out and got the ballast out of it and installed it in here. I will need a NEMA tag for it, Not sure where I can get one of those though. Keywords: American_Streetlights

Nice! If you want to print your own tag, I can make a digital copy of a 175W MH Cooper tag and you can print it yourself. I know you had made tags before and I can make a clone of a Cooper one so when you print it, it'll look just like a real Cooper tag. Smile

BTW, i see this has a nice clear BT28 merc in there. Very Happy

I know how to make the tag, the only thing I don't know is printing them. I have a laminator but if I cut them they end up peeling. So I am not quite sure.

Well do you know how to make it look just like a cooper one? Razz I have all sorts of commercial fonts and stuff on my computer that really comes in handy when making replacement tags. what I often do is print them on paper and spraypaint them with a coat of clear gloss enamel paint on both sides. This waterproofs the paper and then I just glue it into the light. Works great! I'll make a clone tag and upload it here in a few minutes. if you like it you can use it or make your own...

Well if you want to go ahead. I just need ways to stick it on or make the label. I want to put it on like a normal sticker. I guess I would just need sticker paper.

OK I uploaded it. I hope you like it. Smile Yeah sticker paper could work, or if you really want something authentic go to a label shop and have one printed on a white vinyl blank?

Hmm that might work. I did make a custom label for this, Took the old label off and super-glued my custom label on the OVX. I removed the old NEMA tag on the front, which was already rubbing off. Since I already have a 250 watt OVX I decided to make this one different, which is one of the reasons I took the ballast out of this one. I will need a 100 watt HPS ballast for the OVS though, cause I want that one to be authentic. As you can see the ballast in this OVX is a Sylvania, and I plan to keep this OVX 175 watt Metal Halide. The ballast in this is in good condition.

Yeah the vinyl labels look almost like the real thing. Here's a HPS tag I printed for Mike recently for his OV-15 TuDor.

I'm still not quite sure what I can do to print it out here. I wonder if I should paint the fixture anyway. It still has it's kinks. But I can't restore this anyway.

But I would like a tag because I am keeping this 175 watts MH/MV. As the ballast label says.

You can send the PDF i posted on here to a label shop online and have them create it for you and they'll ship the sticker in the mail for you. Smile

I'll see what I can do. By the way what do you guys think of the ballast installation? I did it the right way, no wirenuts, and wire ties to make it neater. It fires up fine, and the Westinghouse Lifeguard lamp works like a charm in this. All the wires by the label are the multi-tap wires. They don't use the spade connectors so I have to do something with the extra wires.

Nice job, I also try to avoid using wirenuts in street lights and traffic signals. As for the labels, find a place that makes custom bumper stickers and send them your design to be printed.

Eh i use wirenuts just so I don't have to cut the wires if want to undo it but with permanent rewiring jobs I use crimps. For solid wires I always use wirenuts though since crimps don't seem to work as well.

By the way the lamp is a Westinghouse Lifeguard lamp. I probably need to get a picture of my NEMA head. I need to clean it out first though. It had some dead bugs in it.
