These are a discontinued model now. Whatever's installed now will slowly dwindle away. I guess more customers preferred the OVX since it's probably cheaper. This looks fairly recent too so one of the last ones. If this were to fail they could order an OVF and stck this drop lens in it but I don't see them doing that. So it's official, the OV-25 glass is retired! Sad

Its a bummer Sad Neutral I like the OV-25 glass lens. I would rather see OVD than OVF and OVX except now that definitely wont happen.

Theres only 1 OVD in my city. At an intersection installed in 2008 or 2009. Its all or nothing here.

The OVL is gone too, never seen one in person Sad

Cooper Lighting OVL's are still very common in my area, but they're slowly going away as each fixture fails.

Never seen any OVDs except when I went to Boston to go on a whale-watching tour on a boat. Truley magnificent creatures. Cool Yeah I heard the OVLs had pretty shotty ballasts. Any new 1000W fixtures I've seen in pictures have been 327s. I found it odd how NGrid, who has GE and Cooper and 1st and 2nd choice for lighting, uses AEL 327s for 1000W HPS fixtures and always has for the past 10-20 years. I figured they'd use Cooper since they've never installed an AEL except for those 1000W HPS private area lights in NY. In RI and MA they only offer up to 400W. Here it's GE for fixtures under 250 and Cooper for 250W+ for whatever reason.

OVDs are fairly rare here. These are the only OVDs I know of in the GTA. I don't know of a single OVL in the GTA.

I don't know of any OVDs around here or in the GVRD, but know of a couple OVLs.

We got this OVD and we have 2 AE 327's in a carwash station

For Cooper's I've seen OVC, OVS, OVM, OVZ, OVH, OVF, OVY, and OVX. I've never seen the OVD, OVG, or OVL here in RI.

Cooper OVD's are not very common to me...however the OVY & OVF are somewhat. higher up on my list of liked coopers indeed.

Theres 2 OVR's in a parking lot by me. Cooper dropped a lot of OV models. All they have now are the OVA,OVF,OVH,OVZ,OVX,OVY

Anyone ever seen an ORL?
streetlight98   [Jul 18, 2014 at 11:03 PM]
OVR? OVA? Cooper only dropped three models, the OVL, OVG, and OVD. To be honest, they have too many models anyways lol. I find it odd how the OVD, OVY, and OVF had their own unique model numbers even though the only difference is the refractor. Put an FCO glass in an OVY and you have an unofficial OVF...But an OVX or OVZ is an OVX of OVZ with a flat or drop lens. Rolling Eyes Laughing

If Cooper wants to streamline their lights and make their manufacturing process more efficient then they could make the OVF/Y/D for medium flat, sag, and drop lens and make the OVH/G for small flat, sag, and drop lens. That whay they only have to make two fixture housing types instead of four. I personally prefer the OVZ over the OVH/OVG but if they wanted to streamline their fixtures that's how I'd personally do it. I see the OVX as not necessary. They already have the OVZ for low wattage and had the OVD for medium wattage. The OVX is a more compact fixture that can't distribute heat as well as a medium fixture.

I personally think fixtures should be divided up the way they were before:
Small: 35-150W HPS; 50-250W PSMH; (100-250W MV; 175-250W MH)
Medium: 200-400W HPS; 320-400W PSMH; (400W MV; 400W MH)
Large: 750-1000W HPS; 750-1000W PSMH; (700-1000W MV; 1000W MH)

That's how the lamp envelopes were designed. Then the cram lamp came out which I think is a mistake. IMO, if the fixture can't fit a full-sized lamp then the fixture is too small for that wattage... It's actually Westinghouse's fault for the whole "cramming lamps into fixtures too small for them" thing. Westinghouse made the OV-15 in 400W MV (called the OV-400) in the 70s and it was fine. MV can handle the heat and MH probably can too but the large envelope in the small reflector would definetly throw off the distribution.
