Broken Lens R37 [Gone]
|
This poor R37's lens broke a while back during tree removal. One of the tree removal workers in the bucket knocked a branch/limb into it. For mike, and joe_347v. This is the R37 that I believe may have been a merc back around 2008. Its a catwalk/path light. For the first time in years this light cycles at night.

Yeah the bolts rust somewhat on the 1970s GEs that use external bolts. But it's just surface rust. The Crouse-Hinds L-150 and L-250 lights had exposed bolts, but on the bottom, and they rusted badly to the point where they usually can't come off the arm so the arm generally has to be replaced when this happens. It's not uncommon to have this happen with OV-15s and OV-25s too since Westinghouse must have used untreated steel threaded rods and nuts. GE used galvanized bolts but with those, using a wrench to tighten them chips off the zinc coating so the bolts on the 70s GEs with exposed bolts will start to rust on top because the zinc coating is gone.
