Ugh! I hate this!
I guess they intended for the guts to be used and this not get installed, as the box has "Mechanical only" written on it. Well you know what? Screw whoever did that because I taped it up so it can be installed. :-P lol Yeah, tacky, but hey, I won't hesitate to install this lol. Afterall, it's NOS (from 1999)

streetlight98   [Feb 24, 2014 at 02:46 AM]
Yeah I know. I wasn't too happy but i knew about it before i got the lot of 9. Still salvagable though. Cool
Mercuryvapor123   [Feb 24, 2014 at 12:14 PM]
9 of them where LIKE THIS I'd be demanding a refund or replacements!!! Mad
streetlight98   [Feb 24, 2014 at 06:30 PM]
One was like this. The other eight were fine.
Mercuryvapor123   [Feb 24, 2014 at 06:41 PM]
Oh ok,
streetlight98   [Feb 24, 2014 at 09:10 PM]
Yeah I wouldn't have bought them if they were all like this. There was another ALR identical to this one, two Ripleys, four DTLs, and a smaller sized ALR, all NOS from the 90s. Smile

Cool! I may be getting a brand new GE M4AR soon. Razz Very Happy I got to tell you, you have quite an impressive P.C collection. Its funny when I first started out I could care less about lamps and photocells but now there a big part of my collection now. Laughing

ANOTHER ONE! Shocked Razz Just kidding lol Laughing Ahh thanks. Yeah when i first started out i didn't care about the lamps or PCs but I love them now! Particularly the lamps and PCs used here in the past.
Mercuryvapor123   [Feb 24, 2014 at 10:52 PM]
Yes another, this one is 400 watt HPS. That will definitely blast the neighbors!! Laughing Razz hey I added some more goof balls to the forum discussion on insane prices .
streetlight98   [Feb 24, 2014 at 10:58 PM]
I wonder if GE would make a custom ordered PSMH M-400A2 since they only list HPS.
Mercuryvapor123   [Feb 24, 2014 at 11:06 PM]
I'm not sure you could always call the tech people at GE. I bet they would for extra cost. you know that makes me wonder why it's only available in HPS?
streetlight98   [Feb 24, 2014 at 11:22 PM]
I don't know. I'm pretty sure it was available in MH back in the 90s. It was certainly made in MV. My M-400A2s were retrofitted to PSMH when they were in service and they worked fine. I can't seem to find a protected universal burn 320W PSMH lamp though. Sad I'd like to convert it back to 400W HPS if I can find an OEM GE ballast with the power door plugs but the odds of that are next to none unless I order one and I don't feel like spending over a hundred bucks for a replacement powr/door and plugs. Confused

Maybe I can stick my 400W westie ballast in it. that would make the light REALLY heavy. It is cool having a PSMH street light. Still looking for a tool free PC socket though for it.

I'd like to get a low wattage PSMH street light some time. either 70 or 100W.

well I thing GE has lowered prices the other day I got a qu0te from grainger on a flat glass lens for my M-400A3 and it was only $20 and a 6 pack of bird guards was $5 . I'm shure you'v looked on ebay for that protected lamp i could have sworn I saw one.
streetlight98   [Feb 25, 2014 at 12:15 AM]
I can't find one. Neutral I'd like a name-brand protected 320W PSMH lamp. Preferably full sized but ED/BT28 is okay if that's all I can find. I see protected base up lamps but I don't know if they can be run horizontally without going boom...

I refitted my R47 for 70w MH (originally to run 100w mercury lamps) but I've since added a switch to allow me to use either 100w mercs or 70w MH. It looks pretty good with a 4000K CMH.
Mercuryvapor123   [Feb 25, 2014 at 10:48 AM]
Do you have a pic. of it? I'd like to see that.
joe_347V   [Feb 26, 2014 at 04:50 AM]
Here's a pic of the switch, and sporting a 70w CMH lamp.
