I have three identical lamps like this. They're all loosing their paint badly too. It looks cool lit through my ceiling fan's frosted glass shades though! any ideas on the age?
thats a type d bulb sold by ge and westinghouse in the 30s and 40s. it was a cheap type of bulb to compete with the japanese imports of the time. don't use em too much, they have a mere 350 hour life!
these came from the same person as the neon lamp and the NOS mazda lamp. 30s and 40s eh? sweet! yeah the lamp looks a little cheap. 350 hours too?! the mazda photoflood lamp is rated for 6 hours on 115V
Wow 350 hours is short, I guess the paint flaked off from storage instead of use then. The Photoflood lamps are actually overdriven so they only last for 6 hours on 120v. I guess running a identical pair in series or on a step down will increase it's life.
