No no! The road is THIS way! [points to road]
This silverliner seems to have been forgotten. Actually, the reason it's still up is because it was shut off before the HPS changeover. There are a few silverliners that are shut off and are oddly all on 8ft elliptical arms facing away from the road lol. The reason i know this was shut off a while ago is the full-sized open cap. The newer ones are shorter. At least it'll remain until service is requested to be renewed (which i doubt will ever happen) The great thing about shut-off lights is that they even get transferred to new poles!

Hanging Light   [Jul 19, 2013 at 03:33 PM]
They could use it as a path light. Theres a pathway i know of with a MV Sylvania R37 (only MV I know of here), but was originally for the road until someone requested that it would be moved to the path for light at the branch off point of the path. Its sounds like crew members just forget about any remaining old lighting systems that are no longer in use.

I wonder if there's a nice vintage BT cleartop inside.

@Hanging Light I wonder where the MV R37 is, I've yet to see a MV in Brampton. Shocked And yeah crews tend to forget about old lights. There's a old incandescent gumball that got forgotten when that stretch of road got bypassed by a bridge.

Could be... This light was probably purposely left up since there's no point in putting up the HPS replacement is the light isn't being used. If the city requested that the light be turned back on, the light would probably immediatly get changed out to a 250W HPS.

Its here in the alley http://goo.gl/maps/tC1eF can't see because of the dying trees from the emerald ash borer. Rolling Eyes Its exposing the MV R37 and crews will probably find it when damage is reported with the hydro lines after a windstorm (such as an hour ago.) The thing with the R37 is it hasn't been on in about 6 years now. Neutral

Interesting, I guess the crews might have forgotten about it since it's still a MV. I guess if they do service it they'll slap a HPS 115 on. Neutral

I can guarantee that they will, thats what they usually use for the smaller wattage lamps.
streetlight98   [Apr 25, 2014 at 03:51 AM]
sorry guys, i never got your replies. Neutral can you go down that path and grab a pic of the R37? If it's MV you should grab a pic before it disappears forever. I can see the pole but no light in streetview.

I actually forgot all about this R37 Razz . I hope one of the Brampton guys can get us a pic though, MV lights are super rare in Ontario.

It got converted to HPS in December. That was the first time it was cycling again Sad
streetlight98   [Apr 25, 2014 at 02:11 PM]
It got converted and was cycling? Are you sure it wasn't already HPS and maybe it was disconnected from power by accident and they simply reconnected it isntead of replacing the lamp and PC too?
Model25FanForever   [Apr 25, 2014 at 03:42 PM]
There is no nema tag on it. I remember it 7 or 8 years ago glowing a dimly whitish. Could it have been something wrong with a cycling HPS lamp? I know that HPS lamps when they fire up glow white or green before getting that yellow color. I think your last theory could be correct too. After the ice storm there was a cleanup in there removing branches off wires and reconnecting wires and they may have decided to get a crew to reconnect the light as well
joe_347V   [Apr 25, 2014 at 03:50 PM]
Hmm the older Powerlites didn't have NEMA tags so its hard to tell but I think there should be a silver nameplate on the door. If you have a pair of binoculars or a camera with a 10-12x zoom you should be able to read it.
Model25FanForever   [Apr 25, 2014 at 03:56 PM]
There is a plate on it. Il have to try and read it one of these days when im in that area. Il take a picture too.
