What Replaced the B2255s...
Here's a shot of the subway pick up area around three month later showing the new Hubbell RLGs and square steel poles which replaced the early 70s [url=http://www.galleryoflights.org/mb/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-11959]Powerlite B2255s[/url] and concrete davit poles. Note that they also replaced the fence, the curbs, and repaved the lot. They also replaced the dead MH canopy lights.

The Hubbells use 400w PSMH lamps (as compared to 400w MV) and have Intermatic shorting caps fitted.

Can you get a shot of the NEMA tags? Very Happy IIRC you mentioned they were different than a normal PSMH NEMA tag...
joe_347V   [Sep 25, 2012 at 01:42 AM]
Yeah they had "40P" on a red background instead of the standard 40 on a red and white back.

Sounds like my old McCann Lighting PSMH tags. At first, i used a standard probe MH tag but added "PULSE START TECHNOLEDGY" on the bottom a little larger than the "MV", "HPS", and "MH" on electromark/cooper tags. I have yet to see a cooper PSMH tag. I wonder if they use the split-color tag or if they use a fully red tag with "PSMH" in the corner...

seems like a good looking replacement fixture Smile especially being a non yellow source of light

Yeah, I was expecting some HPS Cooper OVXs or OVFs to pop up. Glad they used MH drop lens Hubbell lumes though!
streetlight98   [Sep 25, 2012 at 09:30 PM]
Yeah Hubbells are nice fixtures! I noticed they tend to use a darker color gray than the other big companies...
joe_347V   [Sep 26, 2012 at 02:44 AM]
Yeah, I've noticed that but I think their paint pretty durable though. Oh and Mike, I've seen some 320w PSMH OVFs on the Peace Bridge with red and white tags so I guess that's what Cooper uses.
streetlight98   [Sep 26, 2012 at 03:18 PM]
Ahh thanks. Do you happen to remember if the top half had the red or the bottom half? I know GE tags have the red half on the bottom while AELs have it on top.
joe_347V   [Sep 26, 2012 at 04:14 PM]
Hmm, I don't remember exactly -_- but I THINK they had the AEL tag design. I'll check for you if I'm in the area though.
streetlight98   [Sep 26, 2012 at 05:19 PM]
ahh thanks. Smile I've only seen MV, probe start MH, and HPS Cooper tags. Their 50-150W PSMH tags are apparently fully red too. GE's are half and half for PSMH all the way down to 50W.
A_lights   [Sep 26, 2012 at 07:34 PM]
would make sense to have all red tags for probe start and red/white standard for pulse start
joe_347V   [Sep 26, 2012 at 07:43 PM]
I'm not sure if they still have them but I remember seeing a red/white tag with the colours arranged vertically for vertical burning fixtures or something. I wonder why the PSMH tags aren't as standardized as the traditional HID NEMA tags.
streetlight98   [Sep 27, 2012 at 12:50 AM]
I agree, all PSMH lamps should have bi-colored tags. It just makes more sense IMO. And yeah i wonder why PSMH tags aren't as standardized either. They should have choose another color, maybe orange for example, and used that instead of a multi-colored tag. I didn't like the red/white tags in the start, but I've grown used to them now.
GullWhiz   [Sep 27, 2012 at 05:54 PM]
Orange tag is for LPS did you know? Purple is for incandescent......
streetlight98   [Sep 27, 2012 at 08:34 PM]
Tan is for LPS. I've seen LPS NEMA tags on here. I didn't know they used NEMA tags for incandescents. Seems they weren't common.
