Rocky Point Park Lights: 400W MV M-400 #1
This one still has it's PC, but cover on it is gone. Both of the 60s M-400s on the davits (they're right next to each other) have black soot on the doors so I question whether of not the ballasts of caps blew. There was a building on the hill behind the poles that burned so that soot could be from the flames but I doubt it.

oh no it is possible that it was from a building burning down...but after a while water will wash away parts of it and drain down the ones that was on the pole...

The fire was back in 2005. I guess it could be from the fire. It was only this one and the other M-400 behind this pic.

There was a GE M-250R1 not too far from me that had burn marks on the side and inside the refractor after a power surge destroyed the fixture.

i don't think the internals would really show much damage on the outside, here's some proof found in here and that is for an EXTREME situation like this linked picture.....and it doesn't do that MUCH soot....so a simple ballast burn up or cap blowing would do a lot less...one of my first fixtures was a GE M-250R that had a bad cap burning up the ballast, it only made burnt coils, no other soot or anything else....

UPDATE:This light is no more. Pole and everything, gone. Well, this pole fell a long time ago but any signs that it was here are gone.
