M-400 R3 and it's new box.
Here is the brand new light with it's original box. The paper has the specs and info of the fixture.

This fixture wasn't wired for any voltage so the insulated terminal was just hanging out.

Here is the label, note that it says "Wired for not":

How funny, I got a pair of working 250W HPS lamps today XD.

I think the new font on the NEMA tag came out in 2006.. Since this light is 2006 and the NEMA tag is the new font. Sometime in 2006 is my guess.. when they changed the font.

I am glad I found this light... Well I am glad HE found this light. xD This is now my.. 5th? Oh wait 4th never used cobrahead in my collection It's nice.

I am glad it's drop lens too, it's my first drop lens M-400 R3 with it's original glass!

Hey Ian, how many cobraheads do you have now? I think you need to update your list again. Razz

I dunno, I have probably hit the 30 mark now. xD I sure do have a lot. I need to really stop getting more soon... Well I am gonna trade that extra OVX for an M-400 A3, and that M-1000 for a (possibly TWO) M-250 R2's. I might trade the other M-1000 too... For another light that I could get.

@ Ian, possibly. The M-250R2 in front of my house must've been sitting in National Grid's stock room for at least a few years than since it was installed in 2008 and has the old narrow style font. When they switch to LED here (It'll be coming eventually, maybe not soon though) I'll definetly be looking out for lights. I'll try to get the one in front of my house as well as a 1993 version and a M-250A2. The one in front of my house is a 100 watt HPS model with a Formed plastics lens (I guess maybe the origional one broke). All of the 1993 flat-door M-250R2s here (we have a bunch in my area) are 50 watts HPS with their squarish GE plastic lenses. The M-250A2s here (we have a good amount of them too) are all full cut-off with 100w coated lamps. I could try and get a 113 too, but i'm not a huge fan of American Electric fixtures except for the 13 and 25... I'm not sure if I'll stike lucky or not though either. I'm pretty sure I can at least get the one in front of my house though.

Or if I Get another Model 25 I can give it to you. xD The Model 25 is so common in Denver that I already have two of them!!

Those would be the easier ones to get. I hope to find an M-400 A1 Drop lens or Split door someday. I really want one of those. D:

There's plenty of model 25 here too. Smile they're nice looking lights. I had the oppertunity to get one but I turned it down since I don't have the room for another medium sized cobrahead unforunatly. I may let go of some of my non-streetlight lights to make room for other streetlights. Joe Maurath may have a light set aside for me and Jace is sending me a NEMA soon and on top of that I'm getting a LPS Thomas & Betts street light eventually. so i need to clear out some space LOL. Possibly the incandescent barn light and the metal halide wallpack will go. not sure about the wallpack yet though...

About the NEMA tags, You were wrong, they changed the font on the NEMA tag to what you see here in 2006. Sometime in the middle. Before 2006 the NEMA tags were more narrow.

And you notice the label says "Wired for not" When I got the fixture the insulated input wire wasn't connected at all. That's how they do it sometimes.
streetlight98   [Mar 12, 2012 at 08:57 PM]
You already pointed that out Ian. Wink And I guess you're right. I saw some narrow-fonted M-250R2s get installed as late as 2009 so i guess they had plenty of stock back then if they changed the font in 2006. Shocked I believe the single digit fonts remained unchanged since they were already the font they use now.

Well I now have the SECOND M-400 R3 that was at the Re-Store, I just bought it today, for 5 bucks. I guess they dropped the price, it HAS been sitting there for months now and I saw the new price tag and was like "Okay.. I should buy this no one seems to want it" So now it's mine! It's now funny how many M-400 R3's I have now...

It was extremely dusty on the outside, I have no idea why.

So I am going to use the extra FCO glass I have for this new light and make it an FCO.
