Philips Canada Lomger Life Lamp
My little brother was cleaning his table lamp in his room and i was surprised to see this for three reasons.
1. It's a 40 watt lamp. My parents have always used atleast 60 watt lamps.
2. It's a Philips lamp. Normally my parents buy either GE or sylvania lamps.
3. It's a Canadian lamp. I jsut thought that part was cool since most incandescent lamps are made in Mexico or China.
The date code is 8L if anyone can date that. I've never seen any Philips lamps in my house before this one. O_O Perhaps it came with the lamp since it was bought at a yard sale....

Hmm, looks like it's from 1998 but the L is a bit odd, since I think normally Philips skips the L in their date codes, oh and I think the Pac-Man symbol next to Canada is the plant code, I believe the plant in Windsor, ON for yours.

It's definitly "8L" on the date. As for the pac-man symbol thank for ID-ing that sicne i was clue-less as to what that was for LOL. 1998 makes this a special lamp for me then. Very Happy

Oh wait never mind they skipped the I instead Neutral , I think L should be November!

My birthday is in May so I'm a bit older than this one lol. L is November for the GE date codes too. Smile GE skipped "I" in the year numeral for their codes too. I found out GE had used date code on their transformers since the early 1900's. Shocked They started using date on their fixtures when the Powr/Packs rolled out in 1957 accordign to Joe Maurath. I'm guessing they skipped certain letters so they wouldn't be confused with other letters ie O and Q, U and V, I, etc.
