Many of you did this with mostly HPS fixtures. Can you beat this pic with at least 7 incandescent and/or mercury fixtures and no HPS, MH, IND, and LED? Very Happy
TiCoune66   [Jan 18, 2012 at 02:07 AM]
I'll try to XD.
Silverliner14B   [Jan 18, 2012 at 07:22 AM]
Remember it has to be streetlight fixtures. Wink

Nice! And nope Dave I can't beat this using incandescent or mercs, unfortunately.

Need to add the PEMCO open bottom...which I am holding for you....so I need to figure out the best packaging practices and cheap shipping...for some weird reason...California loves to be expensive LOL

Hey Dave you should temporarily convert your R37 to MV and light it up. Cool

beautiful! i have to say the Radial wave is my favorite in this picture
Silverliner14B   [Jan 19, 2012 at 03:00 AM]
@Aaron you got your family and others to use CFLs yet you love this incandescent radial wave?!
A_lights   [Jan 19, 2012 at 04:15 AM]
Yes sure do!
And CFLs don't seem too bad
GullWhiz   [Jan 19, 2012 at 01:36 PM]
I'll rather have LEDs over CFL
A_lights   [Jan 19, 2012 at 01:40 PM]
Me too, however LED in enclosed fixtures with no vents is gonna have a short life, compared to a CFL
GullWhiz   [Jan 19, 2012 at 03:03 PM]
Well a CFL should not be in enclosed fixtures. If you read labels on MOST CFL....they will say do NOT put in enclosed fixtures .....and what usually happens to those in enclosed fixtures is the plastic starts to get yellowed, then brittle...and in a slight possible chance....of it actually falling apart and if it actually shorts...God knows what will happen!

Of course you would know the dangers..but majority of people don't and they won't think once on the dangers.....

And have you ever done any tests on LED in enclosed fixtures? Remember heat goes up....and in enclosed fixtures there are little openings on the top, like holes for junction boxes and sometimes even for heat...depending on design.....

Have you tried an LED in enclosed fixtures? I would say its better using LED in enclosed fixtures than CFL (even the CFL CLEARLY says do not put in enclosed fixtures) plus fixtures are usually metal so it helps that the metal parts of fixtures will act as an heat sink (even though its not REAL heat sink, it still helps) So have you tried yet? if you haven't don't say it will have a short life Wink I rather you try it! I have opened up a lot of enclosed fixtures and CFL ALWAYS looks CREEPY when discovering them, all blackened and yellow and often with brown marks and stuff. Upon removing them some actually crumbled....but most of the time it's around the ends of the glass bulb....

Hmm, well I showed you all the lights in my house in video, and BTW CFL's say"not for use in totally enclosed recessed fixtures, they don't say anything about an enclosed fixture, however when I use them in an enclosed fixture each lamp is 13W or less for
saftey
I've only had a dollar store CFL smoke at EOL, other then that nothing bad, one did melt a bit at the base at my grandma's but was ok
