gmercury2000   [Mar 28, 2011 at 06:36 PM]
Yeah I guess? I thought it was really cool when I saw it!
GullWhiz   [Mar 28, 2011 at 06:42 PM]
He obviously has 3 of them....I went MINE! ...but instead of this nice fixture, a giraffe....had.....clipped my wings....so sadly those can't be a toilet of MINE!
Mercuryvapor123   [Mar 28, 2011 at 06:58 PM]
HA HA!
Silverliner14B   [Mar 28, 2011 at 06:59 PM]
Beautiful!
Mercuryvapor123   [Mar 28, 2011 at 07:26 PM]
So why won' t BGE use these? (old stock)
GullWhiz   [Mar 28, 2011 at 07:29 PM]
I think they should....in HPS and MH at least! It would be interesting! Also they would do well in icetons....but let me say...I don't think those are available in glass...only plastic...the sag lens are glass so they are better in higher wattage.....

I have only seen ONE row of setup in use with this style lens in Montgomery County....under HPS

And those weren't from BGE, it was from New Jersey...

The issue with using the ones that we did have as NOS was the amount of time and labor costs. It is cheaper to scrap them instead of upgrading them. It is sad to think all the fixtures being scrapped but you have to look at it from a financial stand point. It would be nice to save all them but it's not possible.

Strange lense...it looks the same depth as the Prismatic Drop Refractor..

alot of M400A3's in dallas have this "Clear Drop Lense" i won't call it sag cause its the same depth as the prismatic drop.
mercuryvaporrocks   [Mar 29, 2011 at 12:02 AM]
This is the same diameter as my GE refractor.
gmercury2000   [Mar 29, 2011 at 12:05 AM]
Yes this is the same size as the prismatic refractor. Also to answer the question as to why the stock is not used up is due to the govt telling us that we can not use any mercs even excess stock!
GullWhiz   [Mar 29, 2011 at 01:21 AM]
I am sure they were also sold to other electrical companies....I heard that from somewhere...Because I know some electrical companies continued to install old stocks.

COOL! I actually thought this thing was an European streetlight somehow in the thumbnail. Is it still available? The clear drop lens.

As for the govt saying we can't use NOS MV lights. Major epic FAIL! That's the stupidest thing I ever heard. Rolling Eyes
joe_347V   [Mar 29, 2011 at 03:51 AM]
Nice, wonder how the clear globe performs compared to drop lens, FCO, and sag?
mercuryvaporrocks   [Mar 29, 2011 at 01:51 PM]
My power company used to install mercury vapor fixtures until March of 2008.
streetlight98   [Apr 02, 2011 at 08:57 PM]
Kool! Can you light this up?
GullWhiz   [Apr 03, 2011 at 12:50 AM]
Sorry he replaced it with a GE M-250R1 today in front of me.....
gmercury2000   [Apr 03, 2011 at 06:01 AM]
lol yeah it was replaced but I can still take a pic of it lit! Just wont be mounted!
streetlight98   [Apr 03, 2011 at 12:11 PM]
How come this doesn't have a NEMA tag?
LilCinnamon   [Aug 17, 2011 at 08:24 AM]
How do these clear drop refractors alter the lighting distribution from an FCO light? Cause the plastic can't do much to the lighting distribution but add shadows...
