vybrant 50w halogen bulb as bright as 100w inc!!!
i bought a pack from 2xlightdirect.com. they finally arrived today. i was in for a surprise: they are made in USA! they do look as bright as a 100w 750 hour bulb but there is a slight difference in color appearance. the 100w bulb has more red in the spectrum. also note the nice old fashioned inside frost glass.

Well, I guess this answers my question, since the site mentioned they ship to Canada I might grab a pack for myself too.

I checked the site as you mentioned, I found the clear bulb version is sold out Shocked

theres a high demand for these bulbs already. i was told in email that due to high demand i had to wait a few days for my order to be shipped! Shocked

$6 and change isn't a bad price either though hopefully it'll drop because if that's the price online it'll be like $10 a 2-pack in stores which is a little insane for light bulbs. Though these do impress me a lot. I wonder what they did to make halogen that much more efficient. they must haev played around with fill gases or something? they even last 2X longer too!

they use an IR coating technology applied to the capsule (its shaped like some low watt MH arc tubes) which reflects the radiated IR back to the filament and converts it into light. ge, sylvania and philips also make lamps with this technology but they are less efficient and mostly are made in reflector types.

Wow, those are really neat! Incredibly efficient for halogen bulbs, 32 lm/w!
