LED Crimefighter Tired of paying to run the original 175w MV? can't find a replacement ballast? LED changeout too expensive? Why not try this new LED retrofit, requires minimal modification of existing luminaire and uses only 1/10th of the original mercury lamp with 1/10th of the light output. The Green LED colour emulates a dimmed out and greened out MV with 1/10th of the power and is DSA (TM)/FCO compliant. LOL this looks awesome! With a red LED module, it would be similar to Boston's "fire NEMAs".

Yeah looks a bit odd seeing a Crimefighter with a sag lens Razz although I guess it could like a mini version of the M-400A-FCO which was basically a medium Crimefighter body with a FCO glass. I suppose the amber module could be the HPS retrofit lol.

Apparently Hubbell made LED retrofit modules for small size cobraheads but it seems no one makes one for medium fixtures. That being said, most medium fixtures don't have the same refractor footprint.

There was a couple of companies that made cobrahead retrofit panels like that and I remember one had accessory plates that would bolt to the LED module to make the small size module fit an M-400/M-400A/M-400R2/M-400A2 or an AE 25/125/325 or an OV-25/OVM. Basically a steel plate painted gray to match the street light (but I'm sure it wouldn't be a perfect match) or optional in other colors too. Would be cool to have one of those plates and then stick a M-250R2 glass on my M-400A2. Would be the craziest thing ever lol.

Very interesting! I didn't know they made adapters to fit the small size module fit something like a M-400A2, OV-25 or a AEL 125. Would be pretty odd seeing one of those adapter plates used to hold a small glass refractor in a medium fixture. Laughing

Interesting that they offer rebuilt HID cobras with LEDs installed lol. I haven't personally seen a LED retrofiited cobra myself. The closest thing is probably some OVH LED lights they installed as test lights. Unfortunately those got replaced with the more generic metal waffle style LED. Rolling Eyes

I also noticed that lumen equivalences are stretching it a bit. The 100/150w HPS replacement is rated for 5400 lumens.

Yeah IMO 5400 lumens is a suitable replacement for 70W HPS. When I look at the HPS-equivalent of an LED, I look for the MV lumens (like for example, a 175W MV is rated for around 7500 lumens while a 100W HPS is 9500 lumens. When replacing 100W HPS, I'd personally match the 7500 lumens of the MV since not as many lumens are needed with the whiter light).

Yeah it's a bit annoying to see 5400 lumens being used as a replacement for 100w HPS. I think it's so the LED companies can make their product seem more efficient than HPS since if you match lumens the advantage drops quite a bit.

This is pretty cool looking actually....and LED Retrofitting old fixtures seems like a good idea.

So im wondering....if LED Retrofit lamps are already on the market why do most utilities just opt for the LED Fixtures instead of the Retrofit lamps?

I didn't know that Crimefighters have reflectors, considering the lamp burning vertical base-up like in a bucket light.
