CGE Home-Appliance inside frosted lamp from the early 80s
These inside frosted "Home-Appliance" 40W incandescent lamps were very popular in the 80s. This particular specimen has "22" stamped on the stem press, so it was most likely made in October '82, which sounds about right, considering the refrigerator I found this lamp in.

You can call me Mike if you want. It's cool to find someone my age on here. Cool

Nice! what's your favorite type of light bulb? And yes, I agree: nice finding someone my age on here!
streetlight98   [Oct 08, 2011 at 01:38 PM]
My favorite lamp type is mercury vapor (MV). MV used to be used to light the streets, but it's unfortunately being replaced by high pressure sodium (HPS), which give off an orange glow. My favorite modern brand is Sylvania.

I dislike new sylvania incandescent and cfl lamps
streetlight98   [Oct 08, 2011 at 08:15 PM]
How come? sylvania is great quality IMO.
TiCoune66   [Oct 08, 2011 at 08:31 PM]
For incandescents:

Sylvania is usually excellent quality.
GE is somewhat decent.
Philips is plain trash.

For CFLs, the worst are Sylvanias. The Philips and GEs seem to be of equal quality.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Oct 08, 2011 at 08:59 PM]
mike, I hate sylvania packaging more than anything. However, (in my opinion) their "double life" incandescents and all CFLs except the micro-mini ones suck.
streetlight98   [Oct 08, 2011 at 09:24 PM]
Sylvania HID lamps are great compared to GE or Phillips. EYE lamps are and always have been the best, thought the prices can be high. GE has the worst MH and PSMH lamps and Phillips Altos are horrible too.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Oct 08, 2011 at 09:26 PM]
Agreeed with the new philips altos!

Cool older bulb! I like the look of the inside frost with the A15 bulb.
