Powerlite/Sylvania B2227
Here's a Powerlite/Sylvania R37 fixture, It has a remote mounted photocell for some reason and a optional "seagull accessory" inserted into the photocell receptacle. Oddly there was also a seagull on this same fixture in Google Streetview.

[b]Here's a shot of the fixture tag:[/b]

Click to enlarge, there's no date on this one though unlike my Powerlites.

Is every individual light in the road the photo was taken have independent photocell? Or all the lighting system have operated by one photocell as usual?
joe_347V   [Jan 22, 2010 at 11:37 PM]
This light was on a integral photocell, over here in Ontario, Canada most streetlights use integral photocells except for MTO lighting which are on a group relay.
GullWhiz   [Jan 23, 2010 at 01:19 AM]
I see two photocells in this picture!

I guess the power company didn't want to disturb the gull 's perch when they fixed the light or it could be one of those PC sized shorting caps.
gailgrove   [Jan 25, 2010 at 03:40 PM]
I have seen a setups like that as well, there is a relay on the pole with a PC (and it only does one light) then there is a SC on the cobra head Rolling Eyes Confused

Updated page with a shot of the fixture tag, I haven't seen a Powerlite tag like this one before with both Powerlite and Sylvania on it.

Yeah I've seen another one like that here, it was on a older powerlite fixture.
streetlight98   [Sep 18, 2011 at 02:09 PM]
The light that was there was probably remote PC. When they installed the new light, rather than messing around with the wiring, they just put a shorting cap in.
GullWhiz   [Sep 18, 2011 at 02:24 PM]
Simple, The gull's butt is blocking the sun, so they said..."Lets leave that gull alone and install a new remote photocell!" Lineman : 0 Gull: 1!!!

I would have wacked that gull with my screwdriver. Razz

But isn't that GULL ASSAULT? Shocked
gailgrove   [Sep 19, 2011 at 12:23 AM]
What the hell? Why would anyone chase cats with a weed whacker Confused

As far as I know cats bury their "business", mine do anyways and almost all I know of do. And I wouldn't want to kill any animal. Rolling Eyes
streetlight98   [Sep 19, 2011 at 01:04 AM]
Well, there's plenty of poo in my lawn. I was exagerating when i said kill. I don't have the heart to kill defenseless things, but it does get you angry sometimes.
gailgrove   [Sep 19, 2011 at 01:07 AM]
It could be raccoons, I'd hardly call a cat helpless either. My cats always go in flowerbeds, both ours and the neighbours.
joe_347V   [Sep 19, 2011 at 01:17 AM]
Raccoons are quite a nuisance in my neighbourhood Mad , they love to dig through garbage cans/bags, green bins, recycle bins, etc.

They also try to pry open the shingles so they could go inside the attics (happened to my neighbour) and they like to live under decks/porches but covering up the space underneath will take care of that. Rolling Eyes
streetlight98   [Sep 19, 2011 at 01:20 AM]
Luckily raccoons aren't a problem at all. there are very few of them here. Our trash isn't dug through fourtunatly.
joe_347V   [Sep 19, 2011 at 01:23 AM]
I keep my trash in a cabinet next to the garage and take them out on garbage day...better than having to pick up after some messy raccoons. Rolling Eyes
streetlight98   [Sep 19, 2011 at 01:26 AM]
Our bins are stored in the garage and taken out the day before trash day. (pick up is on Fridays)

GET BACK TO THE TOPIC Rolling Eyes
