Hmm... Need more light? Do this!
Hey, Need more light and don't have the rightful ballast? Just put a 400w one in there!

LOL. All i did was move the socket back on my 115, and then fitted my 400w HPS coated in ED 37 in there xD

Oh... I took my 115 down today then put up the NEMA! More info on other pics.

But I wired this back to 150w HPS. I am trying to put in my 175w MV in the ballast box the 150w one was in last.

i dont like Crammers like this for normal use...but it is cool that it fits...heat buildup could be a problem long term i guess. Wink

LOL. THe ballast in here is 150w. I just did this for fun to see if an ED 37 would fit.

The 115 is available in 400 watt HPS so if you had one of them you could fire it up!
LilCinnamon   [Feb 10, 2010 at 11:48 PM]
LOL i could just remote ballast it from my M-400 r2. I have already remote ballasted it for 400w Probe start MH! xD

Your 150w HPS ballasts looks a lot smaller than the one that's in my ballast box at the moment, I'm guessing yours is a single tap ballast.

yeah.

And I`ll now be getting a 400 watt HPS 115 Cool, why is it the my future 115 and my OVX are both small yet have the largest lamps Rolling Eyes
Form109   [Jun 11, 2010 at 10:46 PM]
wow...a 400 Watt HPS 115! Shocked
joe_347V   [Jun 12, 2010 at 05:09 AM]
Whoa a 400w HPS 115! I would use a larger fixture for the 250W-400W HPS lamps though.

I also got a 400W MH lamp to fit in my R47 before but didn't fire it up in the fixture.

This exists actually as far as I know....I know GE used to do that but stopped doing that...
gailgrove   [Jun 12, 2010 at 07:03 PM]
Yep I know of a few 400 watts HPS M250R2s Rolling Eyes
They only do it because its cheaper to buy a small cobra then a medium Rolling Eyes

Don't use plastic.......
gailgrove   [Apr 11, 2011 at 02:43 AM]
I guess you could also put in a BT-37 1KW HPS lamp, now that would be bright Cool
GullWhiz   [Apr 11, 2011 at 03:13 AM]
I know GE did for a short time make 400 watt HPS GE M-250R2s....but they stopped....also using a 400 watt MV BT lamp or MH BT lamp...you wont be able to use FCO....only drop or sag lens!
gailgrove   [Apr 11, 2011 at 10:08 PM]
Yeah I know of a few of those.
LilCinnamon   [Apr 12, 2011 at 06:55 AM]
Why are all large fixtures (700-1000 watts) Have only drop lens not any FCO or anything like that? I bet there can be FCO large fixtures, I wonder why they don't make them though, they can work for 1000 watts HPS.
gailgrove   [Apr 12, 2011 at 07:14 PM]
FCO is useless any ways in my opinion.
mercuryvaporrocks   [Apr 12, 2011 at 07:43 PM]
I'm not a fan of full cutoff fixtures either.
streetlight98   [Apr 12, 2011 at 08:10 PM]
I'm guessing it's because they aren't high in demand. If you're using 1000 watts, even if you have a flat glass, there's still glare.
Form109   [Apr 12, 2011 at 10:29 PM]
im not Big on FCO myself, but those Revere FCO cobraheads (which i hear are the first FCO Cobraheads) use a cool frosted glass which gives a better light distribution from the FCO optics....IMO Glare Shield over a Drop Refractor is most usable if you want the smooth distribution with the cutoff of flat lenses....i've also noticed FCO Fixtures...namely the OV-25 FCO and M400A/R3 FCO give a striped apperance to the lit pavement even though they seem to do an ok job of lighting in close enough intervals.
