OVXs can be included with 400w. So it's fine. I saw their catalog page. Smile

I know they can come with it (this one is 400 HPS) but they cycle early and are very cramped, the reflector in this is the same as the OVZ
GullWhiz   [Jan 17, 2010 at 05:56 PM]
Hey, not for 400 watt MV........
Medved   [Jan 17, 2010 at 06:34 PM]
When look on the reflector, it's design correspond more to frosted lamp with large light aperture size and not for clear, spot-like (or narrow rod-like) lamps...
gailgrove   [Jan 17, 2010 at 10:25 PM]
Your proabley right, I dont really like the light distrubution on them
FGS   [Jan 17, 2010 at 11:27 PM]
There's a solution for the HPS to work in this reflector style. Use a coated HPS lamp. Dunno why no one seems to be using them.
LilCinnamon   [Jan 18, 2010 at 12:36 AM]
Would it fit my 400w Phillips coated lamp?!
GullWhiz   [Jan 18, 2010 at 01:13 AM]
oh yes it will...and i think lower chance of early cycling too because of the coating will help prevent overheating....
LilCinnamon   [Jan 18, 2010 at 02:22 AM]
yeah. But idk how much my coated HPS lamp is actually used. (just to say the coating is fading off. but is still good on there.)
Medved   [Jan 18, 2010 at 06:41 PM]
On HPS the coating is only to diffuse the light, so it is used only in very thin layer on pupose, so they normally look as "faded off" even when new...

Where did you get this OVX?
gailgrove   [Dec 26, 2011 at 05:25 PM]
I got it from the streetlighting contractor that services the lights here, I talked to the head if the streetlighting department and he eventually got this for me, I wanted a 400 watt fixture at the time (preferable working) and eventually they took this down. He delivered it right to my house. Shocked
joe_347V   [Dec 26, 2011 at 05:36 PM]
Talk about good customer service, free door to door delivery. Shocked
gailgrove   [Dec 26, 2011 at 05:37 PM]
Yeah, now if only their service of the lights here was a bit better. Rolling Eyes
joe_347V   [Dec 26, 2011 at 05:52 PM]
My area is just as bad too, we have some lights that are dead for over a year but they go a replace working Powerlites (or at most needed a new ignitor) instead. Rolling Eyes
LilCinnamon   [Dec 26, 2011 at 05:52 PM]
I wish Xcel would do that. xD But they don't give lights away.

I did talk to a guy at WL contractors, (Where I got the 113 (at Tony's place now), OVM, Tudor, and M-250 R1 FCO) and he said next time they do a huge cleanout of their yard, he would call me or leave a message and let me come over there and let me take what I can.

They have lots of goodies there too, Traffic signals as well.
gailgrove   [Dec 26, 2011 at 05:54 PM]
I wouldn't count on them calling, there is another contractor I visited 3 times, they said they would have a cleanup soon and would give be a call, that was more than two years ago... Here they often replace lights that are cycling, sometimes even lights that are working. Rolling Eyes
LilCinnamon   [Dec 26, 2011 at 05:58 PM]
They might. He said they do Cleanups once a year. But people do forget to do things sometimes.

He was still nice to give me 4 Lights from their yard because he knew that nothing would happen to them except for them being scrapped. Especially that Tudor because that is a rare thing, especially here.
streetlight98   [Dec 26, 2011 at 07:12 PM]
One thing to keep in mind when askign for lights is don't mention that a light is rare or really old or they may get the idea to take advantage of you. Crying or Very sad National Grid services lines as far away as New York, and their streetlight heaven isn't in RI. RIDOT's used cobraheads (M-250R2, M-400R2, OVS, OVM, current M-400, OVF, and possibly others) as well as traffic signals, are all in one lot about 4-5 miles from my house. There's no doubt in my mind that my parents wouldn't take me. ( Mad ) Maybe once I get my permit in a few years I can get some goodies there. Very Happy
LilCinnamon   [Dec 27, 2011 at 12:13 AM]
Don't get your hopes up. At first he wouldn't give them to me (a week before I got then) He said I couldn't have them because of the Mercury in the lamps. But then I came back and he let me have a couple because he trusted me and knew bad things would only happen to the lights sooo.
