Neat! I bet a similar contraption could have been used to show off tri-phosphor lamps in the late 1970s and early 1980s too! Is this preheat?

Thanks! It's actually trigger start! It has a single lamp ballast and some crazy wiring to the rotary switch to control individual tubes.

Neat!, I didn't know GE made a demo unit like this. Interesting it's trigger start, must be a early example of one. Maybe GE wanted to market those to potential customers too.

Funny thing is, preheat would have simplified the wiring a lot compared to trigger start.

Thanks! I think it was probably also made to demonstrate the "new" trigger start ballasts. Dave D. said the ballast is dated 1952.
