Preparing for the Hurricane Sandy! PLUS PEPCO RANT!
|
Yep our brand new generator we can and shall use if "Reliable BGE" could not resist Sandy....
Generator is STRONGLY ADVISED for the "Unreliable PEPCO"
How unreliable is PEPCO? See the answer here
PEPCO is so much disliked there are even groups trying to do something about it such as
- PACK UP PEPCO!
- Powerupmontco
- http://mocopublicpower.org/ (this page stated that PEPCO is Anti-American) <SHOCK!>
Glad I am under BGE, unfortunately Felipe lives about 12-14 poles away from the BGE territory line, causing him to be powered by PEPCO, but fortunately his part of PEPCO seems more reliable than most areas of PEPCO. Sadly my area seems less reliable due to the forest I live in, but BGE action is much quicker to fix!
One of my friends was out of power in PEPCO land for 15 days from our June 29, 2012 Derecho! That is ridiculous!

Nice generator BTW.
Here NGrid uses automatically resetting pole breakers (are they what all utilitys use???) so the most annoying thing is when the power goes off for five seconds then comes back on for a few seconds, shuts off, comes on, shuts off, comes on, etc. It just went off a second ago but didn't go off again thankfully. a couple wire must've touched or something...
I only have a small 650Va genset, will do fridges, computer and a light fine. Cold shower, and gas cooker works well.
Jace needs a lot more 2 stroke oil if that is all he has, and a lot more gas as well. If the power is out he will have to nick fuel from the car to run the genset.......
As for power here. It has been flickering slightly. Not long enough to cause the TV and computers to shut down. If he says I lost power means I lost power. I don't have a smartphone. Has no need for one.
I don't think we're going to lose power but if I do, I'll update using my phone.
