Deluxe Crosswalk
Most pedestrian crosswalks here consist of conventional traffic lights that flash green.Once the button on either side is pushed, the flashing green light will change to a steady green light for a moment before changing to amber then red. This one alternately flashes the four amber lights once someone pushes the button, also the underside of the two signs are illuminated with HPS lighting.Note this intersection is askew as there is a large culvert under the road which empties into a creek on the right side.

In Israel, for the purpose in the picture, they installs instead a complete regular traffic light system at the pedestrian crossing. Once the button is pressed an LED amber arrow near it flashes. And the green traffic lights, using a detector volume or the conroller box itself, waits until the road become depleted of cars or a programed time and then turn red (3 green blinks [Optional], orange and red) and the pedestrian lights turn from a red standing men to a green walking man.
The pedestrian crossing signs here is similar in appearence to the ones in Israel, but slightly difference in the print and the size. Our pedestrian crossing sign in Israel also have many times a downlighter with a HPS lamps.
By the way the light in arrow signs onto the israelis traffic lights is often turned on/off by the controller box itself by a timer or by a time program in the system firmware if the system is computerized.

Here we typically have 12/12/8 signals over head for the motorists. the bottom 8" amber flashes by default. When the button is pressed, the 12" amber in the middle comes on and finally the 12" steady red at the top comes on. Then, it's back to the flashing 8" amber. Older signal set-ups have a steady 12/12/12 G-Y-R signal or a 12/12/12 signal with a steady red, steady amber, and a flashing amber like the first one described.

Here's the Ontario version and we also have the conventional traffic signals too although they're steady green here since flashing green is already used to indicate a advanced left turn.
