No, sorry. I no longer have the room in my display. Besides, the ones being replaced were 150w HPS Cooper OVX luminaires. Not classic-esque ones like I grew up with back in Roslindale.
I talked to the electricians and I asked if I could take some pics of this to show the detail up close. Besides, it may not be MV, but I like LEDs.
Well, LEDs are nice to me 'cause they save energy, which is why I made this one as an exception to me. Besides, the HPS luminaires in my area are not classic. The orange glow in High Pressure Sodium doesn't appeal to me. I'm nuts for Mercury Vapor and LED.
Just because it's HPS does NOT mean it is not classic, sure the OVX is not but many are. And I would much rather have a HID light over any type of solid state lighting. And saving a little bit of energy is not worth it for the cost of these.
Well, I can't argue with HID. As long as it isn't High Pressure Sodium. I prefer anything that is not High Pressure Sodium, even if it's LED. The white glow of LED at night makes me feel at peace when I get the chance to go on those night scene specials in Hyde Park like I did on Christmas eve 2011. I blame myself for enjoying LED.
I really think LED technology is bad for high power lighting, many they put in here have failed, I've seen a few good installations but its hard to say how good/bad they are, the light quality is great tho! I prefer the reliability of HID tho
And lighting is only 20% of all electricity used!
Looks like a fluorescent ballast. A suburb near me has been testing different LED street lights for a couple years now. The light output looks nice, but I doubt they'll survive many years of extreme cold in the winter and blazing heat in the summer. The City of Chicago is installing CMH cobraheads now, which look nice. The color of the light output is pretty inconsistent, though. I'm sure they'll last much longer than any LED's currently on the market.
Well nowhere near as long as they are rated to last, many Westinghouse Lifeguard lamps would of lasted much longer than these. The thing is with a mercury or HPS fixture you can screw in a new lamp and your back in business, with a LED you must replace the whole fixture...
And plus if the electronic driver in them is anything like those electronic fluorescent ballasts, the driver will blow long before the rated lives that are slapped on to these.
HID is still more reliable imo, and plus the reliability of MV and to a lesser extent HPS has been proven in the real world, where as the rated lives for LED fixtures are still theoretical.
