The insides of the Model 25 FCO's.
Here are the insides of them, you can see differences here too. Like how the ballasts are wired.

Also the capacitor ont he OLDER one is a bit smaller while the newer one is bigger.

The ballasts are the same size though.

The reflectors are a bit different, the older Model 25 has a better condition reflector, and the paint seems new in there!

The sockets are mounted differently. In the newer Model 25 the socket used to be connected to the reflector by a metal plate, but I took that out. And also the newer one has a screw on the socket and the screw screws in the reflector (Under the gasket) to the socket metal.

The older one is just the socket is held in by a screw, and the reflector just slides in and then screws. There was no metal plate at all. Just a rubber grey gasket to keep bugs out. (Ugh them bugs.)

Not really any other notable differences.

what about the front of the fixture lip? Does both have the groove on the outside front or only one has it?

Hmm. The paint on this is is sloppy on these. I personally don't like the idea of painting the reflectors. It would look better if the finished what they started thoguh. Rolling Eyes

I guess it's a cheap alternative to using coated HPS lamps.

@Jace, the one on the left is the early-80s incarnation with the slot on the nose.

Yes, Jason, but one is a 1982 the other is a 1983...both are the early 80s!

What he means is that the newer 1983 one is the early 80's version. The other design was an older design that I guess came out sometime in the late 70's.
