M-400 Hiding in the Trees
|
This is at Rocky Point Park. Used to be an amusement park but it closed in Jauary 1996 and has been vacant for around two decades but now they've leveled the place and it's open again. They removed all the lights I had know about (I'd gone sneaking around inside in the past) but I got to see these following lights for the first time today. This one has amazingly resisted vandals for 20 years. The photocell is missing, but it seems a lot of lights there were missing the photocells.
I sent the non-profit organization in charge of converting the place into a state park about this light and the four others. We'll see how that goes. I put in information about me and pictures of some of my lights to convince them I'm not a fraud. I didn't give my age though since if they knew I was 17 they might not give my email a second glance. The best part is that it turns out the lights here are all 120V!

I hope you can get it
In this pic or in the pic below, "A" stands for the utility pole with the two floods. They used to light the tracks for an old ride. "B" is the two M-400s in the picture you thought was a roller coaster. "C" is the M-400 above in the tree. "D" is the radial waves, which are just outside of the pic's frame. This is an outdated aerial shot from several years ago before they converted the paved portions in the top right to grass. The woods have essentially been untouched though.
Nice place! It would be awesome to go through that place
Yep, there have been a a number of fires, a couple suspicious, others electrical-related (the power was still connected to the park until the mid-2000s, nearly a decade after the park closed). Aside from the fires, the famous Rocky Point Shore Dinner Hall was looted over the years (mostly dinnerware such as silverware, plates, etc) and it wasn't uncommon to find chairs on the ground outside the hall, thrown through the second story windows. The Hall had 400W MV floods along the side of it and probably had really cool lights inside too. I've never been inside it though. By the time it was torn down last summer/fall, the roof had partially caved in.
Yep, all the davits are gone. They made sure to remove them all, probably for scrap. The left the bases on the ones along the entrance road though. The wires coming out and everything (though long disconnected).
