Price Lowered By PGE?
Hmm, found these CFLs at my local dollar store. Interestingly they have a sticker on them that says they were partially subsidized by PGE, a utility in California. I'm guessing they were closeouts from CA that the dollar store bought.

When I saw the thumbnail I thought, "No way they have PG&E in Canada...
Although my mother's place is powered by PG&E and I believe Hawaii also has PG&E...

LOL i was confused too when i saw this pic. When i was a kid i thought National Grid was the electric company for all of the USA hence the name National Grid and i thought the electric company was owned by the government and NGrid was their name for it Laughing (isn't that true in Ontario?)

Yup! Dollarama is known to buy surplus from bankrupt stores. It's especially true since they introduced 2$ items two years ago and 3$ items earlier this year.

For a while almost every of their stores in Québec had a bunch of Philips incandescent bulbs in the 25-100W range. They had some Globe Superbulbs for a while too.

@Mike, there's a utility known as Hydro One that covers most of Ontario but the cities usually have their own utility (we call them hydro here), mine is Powerstream, and Toronto's is Toronto Hydro.

@Vince, I've noticed that too, since Dollarama started selling $2-3 items. I found some globe halogens and Philips incandescents at mine for a while too.

Shocked wow a doller for four CFLs?! Here NGrid does rebate things instead of lowering shelf prices. Like they'll replace your fridge or old boiler (since NGrid is gas as well as electric) and recycle it an "eco-friendly way" or do an energy assessment for your home and "tell you all the ways you can save big". They also have optional things like paperless billing and such.

Here, Ontario Hydro usually has coupons in the spring and summer discounting stuff like CFLs, timers, and new light fixtures.

PG&E is in Northern California. Amazing they came all the way to Canada! Shocked
