B2217 Replaces LED
The Philips Lumec Roadstar LED fixture at this subway station got replaced with a B2217 this week lol. They also fixed the dayburning lights (which was like that for months, I'm guessing the relay stuck).

Top pic was taken on August 16, 2013 while the bottom one was taken on September 6, 2013.

Also have no clue what's in the B2217 but if it's like the other ones on the subway, probably 175/250w MV or MH.

interesting! The original Powerlite line is one sharp lookin' line of cobras! Cool

Yeah they are, I wonder what failed in the LED light though lol.
streetlight98   [Sep 07, 2013 at 05:58 PM]
what did the LED originally replace? It couldn't have been there any longer than the mid 2000s.
joe_347V   [Sep 07, 2013 at 07:46 PM]
It replaced this MV B2255. Seems like the LED didn't last long those since the Streetview was from July 2012.

maybe it was just a test? looks like the relay was bayburning long before the LED was installed... If i was installing the LED and it was on a dayburning relay I'd install one with a photocell so it wouldn't dayburn lol. individual PCs with a relay or timer seems like a good idea to me since you can have the lights start at dusk versus when the timer or relay comes on (since most relay PCs aren't as sensitive as a PC 20-30 ft in the air) and the timer or relay can shut the lights off from like 12AM to 4AM and then again from 7AM to 4PM-8PM depending on the time of year and the PC will do the fine tuning. Plus if the relay fails as it did here, the PCs would serve as backup.

Maybe it was but I find it odd that they didn't put the old B2255 up. Personally I would have fixed the relay when the LED was installed though.

Let me get this straight. They took down a LED to put a MV or MH back on because the relay was stuck? Wow what are the odds of that. Shocked
joe_347V   [Sep 08, 2013 at 01:54 AM]
The lights were dayburning before they put the LED up so the relay was already stuck then but I wonder why they took the LED down when they fixed the relay, not to mention where did they pull the B2217 from.

The B2217 is what really shocks me. I thought there was almost no hope in seeing a B2217 put back up
joe_347V   [Sep 08, 2013 at 02:37 AM]
This is the second time I seen a B2217 put back up Shocked , the first one was one on a utilty pole which got transferred over to it's new pole. I still wonder if TTC has more old fixtures stockpiled somewhere.

Nice! Now if only I could put my some of my collection up on my street, obviously with the condition that they are MINE if they ever got taken down! Laughing

I don't mind the Westy OV-15 that's currently on my street but I think I should convert it to mercury vapour. Laughing

Unfortunately it was only a temporary reprieve. The station is now infested with LED Razz.
Model25FanForever   [Aug 05, 2015 at 10:52 AM]
No chance anymore of seeing powerlites coming back up here
joe_347V   [Aug 06, 2015 at 07:38 PM]
Yeah, unfortunately. I think the last Powerlites I've seen installed new are the Twistpaks at the park in CItyPlace which was back in 2009.
Model25FanForever   [Aug 06, 2015 at 08:33 PM]
The last powerlite replacement Ive seen is this one You never see a R37 replace an AE 115 here ever lol
