My very own Street-LEDWay-Type 2 Medium Distribution-Horizontal Tenon Mount-30 LED-Series D-120-277V-Silver-700 mA Drive Current-4300K Colour Temp Streetlight!
I don't like most LED fixture designs, though I prefer this to the Leotek's. Seattle is now a combination of both...they seem to throw on whatever fixture they have in the truck. They don't have the small ones like this though. The other day I discovered a rare HPS miss-out!
what i don't like about LED fixtures is that there is no refractor, diffuser, anything. just bare LEDs. i think that's bad design and is more about showing off the fancy new technology than it is about good light distribution. ideally LED lights would come in cobraheads with lenses just like everything else, instead they're sacrificing light quality to make a pretty looking waffle?
What color temp is this one, 4000K? Otherwise, this is the exact same fixture I see in more recent LED installations in LA, they are 35w or 52w. In 2009-2010 70w units were installed, with a longer sized version of the above. I saw a couple of the 70w units that failed and were replaced by the smaller ones, which are brighter than the 70w units even at the lower wattage.
I have LEOTEKS In my city and the quality of light IMO is very nice. I saw the 183 watt 80 led units against 250 watt HPS and I'm telling you from first hand the LEDs were way brighter. The road was more visible than with the HPS. The only thing I have noticed with LED is that you much use a fixture close in wattage to what's being replaced. My entire road now is lit with LED and am quite surprised how well the road is lit.
