The streetlight that started my interest in lighting...
Within the past few weeks they have been LED-izing my neighborhood. I had been observing the "patterns" and so I predicted they would hit my block today. Well, today I got home and found out that my prediction came true. They had LED-ized my street with the new GE Devolves. I immediately remembered my "wanted ad" and went to check. I found this right by my front door. I am absolutely shocked that it actually worked. The poster taped above it is what I put on the pole as soon as I knew the LED changeout was coming. I know it's a bit sloppy, I had typed it up a few days ago quickly before I went to school. Either way, it's awesome to have a light that you have known for basically your whole life. I saw this thing installed (and lit) when I got on the bus today. I knew that would probably be the last time I saw the streetlight I had known for almost 12 years (we moved here around 2006). I am just so happy to finally have this. I am going to miss having this shining on my bedroom blind, it was really nice having the soft orange light in my room. The new Devolve doesn't even light the front yard let alone my window. Oh well, guess I have to get a nightlight now. It has a blue Tyco Electronics photocell, and was made in 1992, just 1 year after my 175w MV 113's I got last year. The ballast (a simple choke) is a bit bigger than I expected, it's bigger than my Advance 100w ballast). The lamp is a used-looking GE Lucalox with the green ring on the end. I haven't fired this up yet, but I am not going to convert it to MV or anything just because of the value it has to me.

There are still a few blocks that are HPS and since I have school off for the next few days I am going to see if I can find them changing out the last lights and maybe get a model 13 with the 4-way optics (I didn't put a note on the pole at the end of my block with the model 13 because it was farther away). Either way, I kind of wish I could write a thank-you note to the nice lineman who did this. :)
